We can’t end it bc they’ll say we are scared and they won’t end it bc now they’re going to have a chance to upset a top 4 playoff contender who just happens to be an in state rival every year for the foreseeable future

As of now, we aren't ending it. They're our in-state rival, and in years past, it had impact on recruiting. In some ways, it still does. They also won't end the series, because it's the only time their stadium is full, even if that happens only every other year. Besides....they have beaten us 2 of the last 3 in Athens. If we go to a 9-game conference schedule, then, maybe. However, I would rather play GT than the Sisters of the Poor that we have been playing so far on our OOC schedule.

Some of y'all don't get the same joy I do from watching us crush tech. I couldn't imagine dropping that game.

I do. Although I live in South Ga., and dearly love seeing us whip UF, a close second for me is seeing us crush GT and seeing the total look of desperation and anger on Paul Johnson's face as he realizes that another beat down is coming....but that he is powerless to stop it.

I don't get the good vibes about 9 game conference scheduling.

I see more bad than good. And that has zero to do with UGA and 100% for the conference.

The emphasis should be on OOC games. And Tech still fits in that mold. Add the neutral sites, add the Clemson/Notre Dames. There is no need to go to a 9 game schedule and no need to drop tech.

I wish we'd drop Tech too. Penn State/Pittsburgh was a long standing annual rivalry game, but they saw the wisdom of phasing it out when the teams joined different conferences. Same with Texas/TAMU, and Oklahoma/Nebraska. Fans get over it and the teams get flexibility for additional interesting matchups that draw national attention.

Playing an annual home and home with GT is a net negative for UGA football IMO. If we go to a 9 game SEC schedule, it will be a bigger negative. Dislike of a team's fanbase isn't a good enough reason to keep this game.

If GT were worth a shite, would that change your mind?

I would have been in Athens Saturday for a SC game, but for MTSU? Boys and Girls Club gets 4 tickets 3 games a year from me.

That's the whole point.

It's nice to have some earlier games with fewer shitheads and be able to take your family to without dropping $1200.

I'm in the market for 3 or four UMASS tickets.

Not really. The SEC East won't be down forever. If tech was a good program, it would still be tough to schedule other strong OOC opponents without setting up a hard path to the playoffs, not to mention it would give us a hard fought game before the SECCG. Scheduling two other decent OOC games would be a potential season breaker.

Top conference teams rarely knowingly schedule multiple strong OOC programs in a season because they don't have to do that to make the playoff. USC is one of the few I can think of that does it regularly, but I don't think anyone would deny that the SEC plays a much more physical brand of football than the PAC 12.

What happens when Tech’s remaining Georgia-based old school football fan type alumni start to die off?

The only diehard Tech football fans I know are aging Tech alumni that could never have got through Tech today. None of their kids could either even if they wanted to and they don’t pay attention to Tech football at all.

And what percentage of current Tech students today will even stay in Georgia? Tech has basically evolved into more of an international school for foreigners to come get degrees to take back to their home countries in 4 years. Sure a lot of them will sit in student section with goofy looks on their faces while they’re students, but who’s supposed to fill the rest of the stands in the future?

Hopefully once Tech closes their football program in a few years, miZzzouri can take their place in the ACC and then we can kick Arkansas out and just go back to a 12 team conference .

More than a few of us oldsters would agree.

Define old?

The really old are the ones writing the bigger donor checks.

AD's listen to them (at least pretend to get the check).

Given the environment and their curriculum - I don’t see any way Tech will ever put together a winning team...even for the ACC. They just won’t be able to get the recruits competing with the SEC and other ACC schools. They will always be out matched.

Tech fans are god damned insufferable when they win. I wish nothing but humiliation and misery on their athletic programs. I want to whip their asses so bad every year that they consider shutting down the program.

Agreed. Those who disagree with this sentiment are weak minded fools. Dropping GT? Jesus....

For our game right before tech if it's got to be a shitbox I want to rotate Southern, State, KSU and Mercer.

It's real bad over at Tech. What makes it worse is the whole scandal that is going on with GTRI. Then you throw some of the shady allegations and shortcomings of Pastner. I can't say I have ever seen Tech's athletic program in a bigger dumpster. I have a lot of family that went to Tech so I enjoy the rivalry. I really noticed millennial Tech fans getting really obnoxious after the 2 out of 3 at home. That coupled with CPJ's asshat demeanor have really brought my hate to an all-time level. I would not be surprised if they hire Brian Bohannon. He has experience there, he's young, and he is probably not as stubborn as CPJ to realize they need to put in a spread offense.

Whenever they finally fire CPJ, can you imagine how bad the next few years are gonna be for them? Switching to anything other than the triple option with the players and especially the OL they've recruited? My god it's gonna be glorious.

We've talked about this before, but yeah they're going to be atrocious. They have QBs who can't throw, WRs who can't do anything besides run a fly pattern, and 160 pound RBs who have no prayer running up the middle. Their offensive line will be horrible. Their first team post-Johnson will be something like 2016-2017 Kansas.

That's when I hope Kirby unleashes all hell and drops 77-0 on them. Completely end their program with one slice.
