People need to understand that D Rob hasn’t been with the team for more than a month or two and before that hadn’t even been in a weight training program for the majority of the Spring and Summer. He’s extremely talented but he has a lot of catching up to do both conditioning and learning the offensive system before he’s going to start getting a lot of action.

Honestly, Kirby is saving DRob for the 2nd half of the season. He currently is not in the shape Kirby wants him to be in and Kirby is using his press conferences as motivation for the kid. He WILL be spectacular for us. I would expect him to have his coming out party vs LSU

Kirby said in his post game presser that yes, he did play.

Yes, he played. Number 16 if you back and look (swapped with Akhil Crumpton, I think), but he was never targeted.

He currently is not in the shape

He certainly looked conditioned and in shape on that 72 yd run against Austin Peay.

My bet is his lack of PT has to do with him not fully learning the offense and/or issues with blocking.

I agree. There will be packages where Chaney uses his talents in big games.

I’ll trust Kirby knows more than you. He actually used both those words in his post game presser......

Kirby: “It had to be awesome for his first touch to be a touchdown. He’s still not in the condition he needs to be in and he will tell you that. I think he got gassed on that run. If that had been in the SEC, it might not have even been a touchdown. We will continue to encourage him to keep getting in shape so that in the SEC, that is a touchdown.”

3 minute mark of the video

It’s not that he’s not athletic or in shape but there’s a difference between sprinting down the field for one play and running routes as a starting receiver, fighting off bump and run coverage, blocking in the perimeter, etc. Receivers are arguably the most active players on offense on any given play and fatigue can set in real quick and destroy your route running ability if you’re not in game shape physically and mentally

That and I doubt he was challenged by strong secondaries out in the West. He wont have that luxury here. He'll get his due soon enough.

He blocked on a couple of Cooks running plays to the left side.

I think Kirby wanted to go physical against south Carolina. The TE's and WR's were doing some serious blocking. That was clearly the game plan. There will be games where we believe going wide open is more in our best interest. All based upon the matchups.

DROB was out there blocking late. He is earning his stripes.

We are at an odd but great time where when we run the ball successfully we are stealing from the passing game. When we pass the ball we are stealing from The running game. When we give the ball to one playmaker we are keeping it from another.

I say Just Win Baby and screw the stats.
