I love all those guys and what they have done. That said, I want a proven attorney who has managed a successful powerfive program.

Part of me thinks football is good to go, maybe get a basketball guy who just supports Kirby. But builds our Basketball Program .

It was dumb. He fricked his own football team. UCF needed those games much, much, much more than Florida did.

He didn't torment Florida. Florida was laughing at them.

Yeah. That worked real well for Southern California. They lost 10 scholarships a year and were stripped of the 2004 BCS title. That program hasn't recovered yet.

They got a national title out of it and being a USC fan from 2002-2009 would have been a blast.

The only reason they haven't recovered is because they've held on to Clay Helton for 3 years too long and their admin is no longer committed to winning football.

What? When has this ever been part of a resume for a successful AD?

Id rather a sports marketing and big tech background.

He knows no one is ever going to take UCF seriously and losing to UF would be the worst thing that could happen to ucf.

It would have put them back in their place.

If you want to tell the NCAA to shove it, you need an attorney in that role. There are plenty of people with law degrees as ads.

Frank Ros would be great for the job. He could convince Herschel Walker to be Assistant AD for football. They could both wear their 1980 NC rings when meeting recruits. Herschel could pose with them with his Heisman Trophy.

Actually you need a successful businessman as AD. Someone that knows how to manage people and budgets. Then the AD should have the best legal firm for dealing with the NCAA on retainer.

Danny White is too much of a whiny bitch for my liking. He ducked Florida when Florida made them a fair offer to play OOC games. UCF needed to play Florida to have any chance at a playoff.

I hear you but I'd prefer to have someone who has been a DI AD instead of trying to break someone in. But on the other hand it might be good to bring in someone with UGA connections who would have fresh ideas.

The AD is administratively an attorney anyway, they are knee deep in contract law, coaches salaries, scheduling contracts, conference contracts, travel contracts, etc...

It matters. The powers that be tell you who to hire and fire, you do their bidding.

Marketing can be handled by interns at this level, the program sales itself, you just need a graphics artist, social media person, and some people to do remotes. Computers have made marketing an easy thing, a great, young web guy can make a mom and pop look like a fortune 500 company.

Knee deep? You think they're writing any of these contracts? Its why you hire lawyers and accountants.

What? AD's get the final say so or approval on 90% on those decisions. You think Morehead or folks like Billy Payne GAS about the new womens golf coach? or new asst baseball coach? You make decisions and they better be good one's. They aren't messenger boys who run around getting a consensus

Complete horseshite. Interns? You know zero about marketing and branding.Look what Bill Battle brought to the table at Alabama with his marketing and branding background. McGarity was horrible at both.

You are disconnected with reality. EVERY PART of the Athletic Department is contract driven. Every single part.

It cant be more obvious ....

Compliance is the application of the rules, attorneys make a living exploiting the rules be it irs or regulation. Our peers where exploiting the heck out of the rules while ears, evans, and Richt let us fall further and further behind something that no one had any compliance issue over.

I don't think you have a single iq point, you are forrest Gump without all the luck.

How many athletic departments have you worked at? Contracts are a part of almost any administrators duties amd the reason they have legal departments.these guys have a million things to do other than going over contracts and their fine print.

Please give an example of these "peers" and their legal backgrounds and the rules they exploited

Top 20 AD's

Here ya go genius. Only 2 of the guys have a law degree and one of those was a sports agent.Almost ALL have advanced mgt degrees and some have marketing degrees and backgrounds.

Recruits have no concept of 1980 - it's basically ancient history, since current recruits were all born after 2000.
