I'd love to see Billy Payne get the job.

??? I felt like things have been pretty good with McGarity. Facilities have improved, baseball and basketball games were marketed very well to students as well. He has given the football team everything they need to be successful.

I'm not sure there's much more he could've done.

I think that is more of jere morehead than greg mcgarity.

There is a noticeable partition before and after morehead came onboard.

You are forgetting that all the Richt-lovers used to blame "Mccheapity" for all of Richt's failures during the time when Richt said "we don't need all that stuff" and then Pruitt came in and was like "uh, yeah you do" and then Richt was like "ok I guess so" and McCheapity said "Ok then, here ya go" and then the Richt-bots all said "It's about time, McCheapity!"

Your objective observation of factual history has no place place here.

Yah, McGarity made some good moves when the heat was on. 1 - firing Richt and 2 - firing Mark Fox. Bringing in Kirby is probably what he will be remembered for.

As a side note, I wonder how deep Chip took "it" to earn the exclusive scoop on this one?

He had to be dragged kicking and screaming into the Saban era and was always the last to innovate.

Last in the SEC to get a IPF

Last of the big 6 to bolster the FB staff with analyst. Hell,CMR paid assistants out of his own pocket

His unbelievably stupid and shortsighted stance on "oversigning." Tried to take the moral high ground, while Saban was winning NC's and signing #1 classes.

The guy was a career yes man and pencil pusher and had no business running a athletic department like Georgia.

Never forget how Mcgarity bent over for the NCAA with the Aj Green and Gurley fiasco.

Also, he accommodated Aubrun after their whining. He was a weak.

Lol yeah I'm sure richt looked around the sec and decided "nah, we don't any of this stuff even though we're the only one without it". You seem to think mcgarity was always ready with the checkbook and was simply never asked, while ignoring the fact richt was having to help pay assistant's salaries out of his own pocket. But I'm sure that's how he wanted it right? We were busing to atlanta to fly to away games and coaches were driving their Tahoe's all over the state to recruit instead of flying. All of this was bc mcgarity was a cheap bastard.

And let's just PRETEND that richt actually wanted to be at a disadvantage and also help pay his staff on his own...shouldn't it be the job of the athletic director to take a look at our peers and say "whoa hold on... we're clearly lagging behind here we gotta make some changes"?

This is the guy that absolutely and utterly whiffed on his first like 10 coaching hires. It wasn't until we got Kirby, which had nothing to do with Greg, we started hiring like we wanted to win. Under mcgarity we lost the tennis National title host that we'd had for years. Our women's bball, gymnastics, and baseball programs went into the shitter under his watch. We still give zero fricks about foley. Baseball and basketball have absolutely no business being the way they have under him considering the talent in state in both sports. He made zero effort to rectify us playing at Auburn back to back, and before the argument of "but the schedule rotations are already set!" Florida and lsu made it work a few years ago when a storm displaced the game and they had to go 2/2 instead of 1/1. He also allowed the dsor to move which helps us zero and only serves to help make Auburn's schedule easier on themselves. He's a hair dyed buffoon that had no business holding his position as long as he did. Good riddance

Was McGarity involved in the AJ thing? If so, he was brand new.

What was McGarity supposed to do about Gurley? He was set up.

I don't recall McGarity having jack shite to do with signing/oversigning, that was a Richt thing.

Whoever is chosen better understand where this football program is, where it needs to go and how fricking long it’s been since it’s been there.

Assistant bonuses were already built into their contracts and they didn't hit the thresholds, so Richt "tipped them out" and was ncaa violation fyi. Every single one of those assistants was ran out of town less than a year later by all of the same pitchfork-carrying moronic people who were schlobbing Richt Cock for paying them extra.

Johnny manziel was on film signing autographs for cash and ATM basically said ok, prove it. Cam newton took a payday and Auburn said ok, prove it. Other schools always seem to force the ncaa to do something and nothing happens, whereas we take all the wrongdoing we can dig up on ourselves and hand it to them on a silver platter and make things worse. Gurley getting suspended 4 games for signing his own jersey is bc we basically told the ncaa "hey look at what our guy did!"
