I don't recall McGarity having jack shite to do with signing/oversigning, that was a Richt thing

Both were involved but Mcgarity was just as passionate about the practice. It was a silly hill to die on
McGarity and "oversigning"
quote:

First-year UGA athletics director Greg McGarity is strongly opposed to the practice of oversigning football prospects and in favor of legislation to help curtail such activity among SEC institutions.

quote:

“It’s just the right thing to do,” McGarity told Dawgs247 this week.

quote:

“It’s a head-scratcher,” McGarity said. “I think the thing you focus on is, ‘What kind of conversation are you having with these young men and their parents up front? Are you making them aware of all the dynamics that could occur?’ I think the majority of the time that's probably not the case."

Not a fan of hers, our sports programs are all underachieving like crazy, time to bring in someone who actually knows wtf they are doing.

Dear Lord no. I can’t imagine Kirby would let that happen. Back when UGA thought “losing the right way” was a badge of honor she’d be a shoo-in. Let’s hope those days are behind us for good

What was McGarity supposed to do about Gurley? He was set up.

The same thing that Auburn did with Newton and A&M did with Manziel. Tell the NCAA to shove it and come find proof. Don't roll out the red carpet for them. You never, ever roll out the red carpet for them. Make them do their own investigation and don't help them or do it for them.

He is close to 75. Not sure it would be something he would want

Never liked him. Thought he was weak, and cheap. Seems like he was forced to do some of what turned out to be the right thing to do. Glad he's leaving.

Emerson and Shultz through out the name of UCF AD Danny White as a possibility. I'd take that over a McGarrity crony.

I don’t think this is McGarrity’s AD any more. The “losing with class” regime lost all power and will not get it back

Do people want payne simply bc of his ties to running the masters and he's an alum? I love the guy but I'm not sure his background is the best candidate available for what we need. Also with a candidate that old you run the risk of them just settling into the normal routine and not wanting to make any big changes

Plus, at 75, he may be very happy doing what he's doing right now. AD at UGA has got to be a demanding job.

That and a little thing like bringing and managing the '96 Olympics in Atlanta.

Hes more than qualified but I would doubt that he has the time or energy to do it.

Danny White is too much of a whiny bitch for my liking. He ducked Florida when Florida made them a fair offer to play OOC games. UCF needed to play Florida to have any chance at a playoff.

I work for University System of Georgia and they offered some pretty generous retirement incentives for those close to retirement due to budget constraints thanks to covid 19.

He probably jumped on that.

I just hope they hire a multiracial transgender person. I do not care if they are the most qualified.

If you think about what White did, it was to torment Florida and claim to be the best team in Florida. I think it's great.
