I like that approach. I like knowing who our guys are without waiting and hoping we land certain kids. I look at our 16 right now and I love the class we have coming in if we can keep them all. If we land Zo Carter or Wesley Green it would be icing on the cake. Very solid class with lots of contributers. We should take a vote on the incoming freshman you think will have the most immediate impact.
Offense: I think Sony Michel contributes earlier than Chubb based on his ability to catch out of the backfield even though I think neither redshirts and both will see carries next year. Jeb Blazavich being the sleeper pick here. He runs really good routes for a TE.
Defense: This is the hard one but I will pick Parrish based on the depth we have on the Dline. I would say Keyon Brown but he will probably have to wait a year before seeing much playing time.

Uummmm I thinkit is always Saban and Bama staffs decision to take what you can especially at certain positions. The SEC is a rough & tumble league and injury is a way of life around here. I believe also that Bama doesn't just sign extra guys at positions but Saban can also over recruit a position if not having enough burned him (aTm game 2012, 1st and GL at the 4 and Nuss called 3 straight passes because he didnt trust the back-up RBs and Lacy and Yeldon were both hurt) and he is given the opportunity with this and that guy. This he's class is absolutely STACKED at DL/pass rushers, JuCo guys Jarran Reed & former Bama player DJ Pettway, then recruits are Josh Frazier, Da'Shawn Hand, OJ Smith, Johnny Dwight and staff is after Matt Elam who is a NG.
Bama processes guys one way or another every yr whether it be some leaving early despite not getting a 1st rd grade or transfers to keep the numbers at 85. I believe every yr there is a plan to bring a guy in staff feels can compete and some compete way earlier than others, but you never know when you are recruiting a kid a lot of times, and every cycle there might be a better player at A or B position who comes in and immediately competes and at the level of competition there is in the SEC that is just a way of life. It looks bad at times but I'm of the opinion that you would always rather have more at a position than less numbers because if an injury prone yr happens like what happened to HGA or UF this year, there are experienced back-ups who have competed already.
A great example of this is this year's OL. Bama took extras most times at every OL position under Pendry and when Stoutland came to replace him, he still had the Miami/Shapiro stuff hanging over his head so Saban really didn't let him recruit or evaluate and offer on the road like every other pos coach. This year's OL was a direct correlation and really paled in comparison to the OL Bama has had in the last 4-5 years, so as soon as Mario Cristobal came in Saban asked him how many guys do you feel like you need to take in this cycle and MC's answer was as many as I can, so we have 5 guys right now and might take 1 or 2 more. The thing that was most apparent on this year's OL that it has had previously was/is depth and quality competition. That comes from multiple players at each OL position.

You guys still took 4 guys for no reason. Any decent coach would have advised at least one of them to look elsewhere because there is no way on this earth you could even attempt to find that many 4 and 5 stars playing time. I am sure if he told Kamara up front that he would probably not see the field ever then there is a good chance he finds another home. People fall in love with Bama because it produces champions and NFL stars but you can't play everyone ......I blame the kid more than the team but if you get 2 or 3 guys at a position like RB especially guys as talented as Tenpenny and Henry I would have advised Kamara to explore other options. Instead of letting him become a malcontent.

There is a reason. It may not be in the best interest of the kid, but it is in the best interest of Nicky's ego.
I think Saban is a great coach and I would not dare to say that he has violated rules, but that guy does whatever he can legally to the program's benefit. Like it or not, you have to respect a competitor, especially one that wins.
He got all those kids to sign. It was the two that believed the sales pitch that are mad. You think Nicky gives a damn about Kamara and Jones...shite...Nicky sleeping like a baby, except for the IB and Sugar nightmares

That's why I think he's not above taking a kid, even if it's to keep him out of the hands of another SEC rival. If Kamara had chosen UGA and we made it to the SECCG against Bama again and the kid that runs the ball down Saban's throat is one he turned away? That's a nightmare scenario for Nicky boy.
Best to use all of the recruiting capital you have, take kids on even when there's an embarrassment of riches at that position, and process someone who hasn't developed yet to stay under 85. Look at it this way - Ray Drew probably would've been processed because he didn't develop fast enough at Bama.

How Solid are the 2014 Commits Heading into National Signing Day?:
Jacob Park: Officially Enrolled at UGA
Sony Michel: Michel will not take any other visits before signing with UGA on NSD.
Nick Chubb: Chubb will not take any other visits before signing with UGA on NSD.
Shakenneth Williams: “Yes Sir I will be visiting UGA after dead period. No other visits to other schools for me. I am so happy to be a Dawg.”
Jeb Blazevich: “I’d guess yes to taking a visit to UGA after dead period but if there’s no occasion for it then I am not sure.” Jeb will not take any other visits.
Kendall Baker: “I will probably come up to Athens at some point. No other visits for me”
Isaiah Wynn: “I’m a Dawg”- Wynn will not take any other visits
Jake Edwards: Edwards will not take any other visits before signing with UGA on NSD.
Keyon Brown: “I won’t be visiting UGA before NSD, I won’t be able to. I’m ALL DAWG”
Detric Dukes: Dukes will not take any other visits before signing with UGA on NSD.
Shattle Fenteng: “I will be visiting UGA on the 16th. I am not sure if I will take other visits yet, I will let you know if I decide to.”

I think Fenteng is the only guy I have heard that might be wavering. His commitment is probably somewhat tied to what Wesley Green decides.
I didn't see Lamont Galliard listed but I'm hoping he is also all Dawg. He is a big need after Russell Decommited and Shaw being injured.

I guess that is a good sign they have some decent news on some prospects.
Maybe they can have some contingency plans just incase IE Gates/Douglass. Those type of prospects almost always workout for the program(guys longing for an offer). Truthfully the program need more players like that.

I hear what you guys are saying but taking 4 guys that good when you already have that many talented guys on the roster is a recipe for disaster. Just look at what Kamara has done.....Alabama basically asked for that. You promise a guy something and he commits and it doesn't work out and now you got a guy at one of the best schools in Georgia bad mouthing you all over the place. Just seems like a bad decision letting him commit in the first place. Hindsight is always 20/20 and at the time it probably felt like....hmm lets take 4 guys and the best 2 will play but when these kids are world beaters in high school they all expect to play. That's where you get these malcontents and divas. It may have cost bama a few recruits and more in the future.

I'm sure they do. The dead period ends next Wednesday. When it does, I would guess you'll see the staff push for a couple guys who we aren't talking about right now. That always happens.

I don't mind the late offers to grab lower rated kids but I just can't figure out why we didn't pursue a guy like Nate Brown. With our WR issues he should have been a priority a long time ago. I like him better than both wr's currently commited.

We offered, but he just didn't seem that interested. He also said that we were pursuing another receiver heavily, but didn't say who that is.

The offer seemed reactionary to losing Josh Malone. I get that he wasn't as talented as Malone but man he is physically imposing and would make a great redzone weapon. I haven't heard of us pursuing anyone else???

Not sure who it is but we are likely to sign another receiver according to pretty much everyone. It will likely come to light once the dead period ends

Thats great news. It seems like we have missed on that position and had more decommits there than any other position. Hopefully whoever it is can actually play.

I hate that Fenteng might be on the fence. His tape is impressive. Pure cover corner at 6-2 with good deep speed.

I agree Crow. He seems like he's only wavering the same way Wiggins did last year. I think he'll come and be a DAWG in the end.

I don't think that Fenteng is necessarily "on the fence". He will go to UGA if he can. It is smart for any JUCO player to keep options open when it comes to UGA and getting classes accepted for the transfer. We sometimes forget about the educational aspect of these kids, but if certain classes aren't quantifiable on the eyes of the university, it would be dumb of Fenteng to just be left holding the bag without having back up options.
