The 3rd I've discussed on here before and he is also from Ga
I am well aware of Dickson and I think A'Shawn playing a good bit on the DL and staff recruiting and landing Hand seriously pissed him off, he knew the other 2 and vented to those 2 who were both TF
I think Dickson picking Bama shocked all parties concerned as did Adrian Hubbard and the kid we have in '15 class, Hubbard worked out well though

I was just speculating on young guys from Ga who might be disgruntled. I figured Kamara and Jones might be since they rode the bench while J.J. Green and Brendan Douglas got meaningful carries in Athens.

It probably won't matter much on Kamara or Jones- they both would have to go Juco first- missing a year- or likely having to sit for two years if they wanted to transfer directly. If anything needs to be changed in the NCAA rule book, it is the transfer rules. They are completely unfair to the player- especially the 2-year rule if a coach doesn't release a player to a school.
If there is anything I am quite proud about with UGA football is that I do not believe that UGA under Richt has ever put restrictions on any guy wanting to transfer.

Bama has also released guys for obvious reasons (Corey Grant is a great example) and Tyren and AK were immediately RSed as soon as they got here and Tenpenny and Henry weren't
Again discussed this the other day
And playing Devils Advocate from all the accounts I've heard from people watching all the incoming RBs compete in the Summer, had Tyren Jones chose UGA instead with Kublanow after Gurley went down he would've been the next guy in no doubt in my mind and UGA fans would be talking about the 1-2 punch next yr and how he has a chance to be the best RB etc etc, he was that good in the Summer, but the RS decision had already been made

Jones wouldn't have beat out Marshall
Posted on 1/8/14 at 3:57 pm to Crowknowsbest
He might not have known the PB and reads audibles etc as well but all accounts here were he was easily looking even better than Yeldon, Henry, Drake etc
If he transfers (really hope he doesn't) to another fairly good school non SEC or even a school like UGA and after yr of sitting is the starter anywhere I wouldn't be surprised one bit

I know he's really good. I just really doubt he would have beat out Marshall for the #2 spot this year. Marshall is really good too.
As for Jones' future, I don't know if it would be at UGA. With Chubb and Michel coming in with what we already have, I'm not sure we'd bring him in or if he would be interested in coming into such a crowded situation. We'll see.

The scope and depth of this year's injuries are almost once-in-a-generation, but it's funny how it seems to happen to at least one high-profile school in the league each year. Last year it was Missouri, this year it was UGA and Florida. I'm all for recruiting the stud RBs till they stop signing the LOIs. Use the taller ones as slot receivers and KR/PR and let them be rock stars there if there's no room in the backfield.

I agree. It's just tough to get that many to sign and stick around
Posted on 1/8/14 at 4:14 pm to BuccWildBammer
Did they know they would be RS'ed before signing? Did they not know the depth? Are Ga. Public Schools failing to teach these kids math?
Ok....forget the last question
Ftr- frick Kamara, Jones looks solid.

Is Tyren Jones officially "processed?"

Obviously not

Interesting question but at that position most kids see themselves as good enough to compete with anyone. Also if you think about it before the 4 RB class last yr Bama was relatively thin at RB going forward. Lacy was leaving and Drake and Yeldon both had a good bit of carries that previous yr
Vox - not officially yet and I hope he is not, there are a lot of other players I'd process first but if it happens it won't be because staff wants it

Well, if Bo is more of a receiver, then Bama's depth chart isn't so bad for a RS F- Yeldon, Drake, Henry, Tenpenny, and Jones ( and Hart somewhere) are actually less deep than Gurley, Marshall, Turman, Green, Douglas, Michel, and Chubb.

Bucc, you might be an interesting outside opinion for those of us here on DR who rarely venture outside our red & black digital confines here on TD:
It it the perception within Bama circles that Saban has been known to recruit "defensively?" By that I mean that he's willing to take on a highly-sought new kid (often at the cost of an existing scholarship recipient who hasn't burst onto the scene as a producer but may eventually develop) if only on the virtue that they're Bama, they can have pretty much anybody they want at times, and it keeps the recruit out of the hands of Auburn, UGA, LSU, aTm, etc?
I ask that because last year's RB haul for Bama was practically unprecedented, it seems. 8 scholarship RBs? Seriously? Everybody and their brother knows full well that 1/3 of those kids at a bare MINIMUM would never see the field, and yet Saban took them anyway. It just strikes me as a bit disingenuous and calculating. Then again, we're talking about the perspective of a Dawg fan viewing CNS in the light of 13 years of CMR, who would sooner cut his own throat in front of B-M than make a football decision before a life decision. It's an admirable approach on part of CMR, but that shite gets old after another 8-5 season.
