CMR and others to be at Josh Malone's home tonight. Tennessee is trying to find every available opportunity to meet with him due to unlimited contact thanks to the FA paperwork he signed last week. 247 says if any school is trending, it's Clemson. Malone took his OV there last weekend, and they're getting him around Deshaun Watson as much as possible. UGA's angle obviously is Ramsey & Park.

Don't quite know that UT has an answer at QB, but there's a lot of pressure for him to stay in state.

ETA: His family likes Athens, but the question is just how much?

That's what I can't understand. He's not going to have anyone to throw him the ball.

I think it's just the locals trying to keep him there for the sake of keeping him there. I'm sure that we'll benefit from the FA paperwork being signed by kids in GA, because the unlimited contact rules will be enhanced by being closer to the prospects, but Butch Jones is milking this one for everything it's worth. I fully expect him to show up at the front door in a Domino's shirt if it means a little extra face time with Malone.

Clemson, I get, though.

Apparently the pressure on Malone is intense. Those hillbillies would lose it if they lost their middle TN prize to an OOS school.

There was significant blowback when we got Marlon Brown out of Memphis. Malone is in much thicker UT territory, and their fans and program are much more desperate.

Buncha recruiting pros indicating that Clemson is trending for Raekwon McMillan, now. Kipp Adams, JC Shurburtt, Rusty Mansell...

Richt just said the staff won't make it to Malone's home tonight due to the possible inclement weather but we'll definitely make their visit before he commits.

How serious is Nate Brown about flipping. Wouldn't be mad at all if Brown was the guy instead of Malone.

Love how CMR can comment publicly about Malone and Park since they signed the FA paperwork.
quote:

“I think the guy is a dynamic player. I really do,” Richt said on Malone. “I think he’s a guy that could come in as a freshman and make a difference, especially if he comes in at the mid-year, which I think is his plan for wherever he goes. I think the guy, with the knowledge that he would gain in the spring and through the summer and have a guy like Chris Conley to mentor him, he could take advantage of his skill sets, which I think are outstanding. Great speed, great height, snatches the ball well. He’s a very sharp kid, great family. We’d love to have him here.”
quote:

“We want guys that are really good passers,” Richt said. “I mean, he’s an outstanding passer. We think he’s a very sharp, very good decision-maker. We’ll find out about how he handles pressure once he gets here. But he’s got the tools that we’ve looked for over the years to have a guy that we think can be successful. We’ve been blessed with good quarterbacks over the years.”

Vandy still gunning for Shakenneth Williams. He tells Rusty Mansell that everything's good with UGA.

Monday kicks off the coaching carousel, so it'll be interesting to say the least what jobs open up. I'd be SHOCKED to see James Franklin stay at Vandy. Dunno who would have him, but someone will make a play for him, I'd bet. Same w/ Chad Morris at Clemson.

I feel like Franklin is committed to Vandy. Just a guy feeling though.

Had a few buddies on the team while he was there and sure, it's seen through black and gold glasses, but they all say his rhetoric, attitude, and the work he has put in to actually build the program that he may be there a while

Money talks though but we'll see. Strong and Briles signed insane extensions and they keep coming up in coaching searches and then there's Petersen who's stayed put even though I think that has a lot to do with his kid or so I have heard.

Yea Peterson has a special needs son and their doctor is out west.

You know I'm not on the fire Richt train but if you told me Charlie Strong could start January 2nd? I'll pick him up from the airport.

I think Franklin leaves after this season, just the way I see things. If he wants to recruit the type of players needed to win, Vandy has to relax standards and take some chances on kids with questionable character. After what happened this off-season, the University president made it fairly clear that he's rather dismantle the athletics programs than see the university suffer another black eye like that.

Franklin is a stellar fit for USC. I ink Kevin Sumlin is using the spin to get ANOTHER raise. If Vandy were smart, they'd go after Shaw at Stanford. He's well-acquainted with working a Top 10 program that's at the top of the academic food chain.

Why would Shaw leave the school he graduated from to go to Vanderbilt?

Just spitballing about who would work for Vanderbilt's culture w/o missing a beat. I can't imagine that Shaw would leave Palo Alto.
