Almost a decade. Time fricking flies. I vividly remember that fall of 2011 and the vibe on campus after the bullshite Baylor pulled. It was a bomb of pent up energy ready to explode. Then that 2012 season, the QB debacle, the UCLA disaster, Jimbo. Its been a wild ride, but its been a hell of a time and I can't believe it's about to be 8 years

DONT MESS WITH TEXAS FOOTBALL!!!! DONT DESTROY HISTORIC RIVALRIES!!!

Proceeds to brings less than 800 people to Kyle even though they are rolling w/a Heisman candidate at QB and their campus is a little over 90 miles away.

That "thou shall not convent thy neighbors conference" banner that flew off the second deck for about 5 minutes that day

I remember that nonsense.

Beating the best team Baylor had had in 25 years by 30 was fun

No, Tech actually told ESPN to frick off about putting the game VS them on the LHN even though it cost them some Prime Time ESPN exposure. That was some bullshite hardball from Texas and ESPN and them turning it down is why the LHN never was what ESPN wanted it to be. I will always respect them for that.

Overall I think none of us regret the SEC move like so many predicted we would.

That wasn’t really a cave, it’s more that Texas dictated the home game be played on Thanksgiving when it was their home game, kinda like we did to LSU for a while. When it was Tech’s home game it hasn’t been played on Thanksgiving.

You hold a grudge against Tech for something that is really just Texas pushing the envelope as far as it could go. The worst thing you can say about Tech is they didn’t play us after we left for the SEC but really that might have been less us being blackballed and more we never offered.

Now please for the love of God stop making me defend Tech Tards.

It's been going by so fast. My victory lap year was our first year in the sec. I thought it was up hill from there and sumlin fricked up a perfect storm for us because we paid him too much too fast

Jesus. I was still a senior at SC and I can still vaguely remember having the UF@A&M game on. Poor UF, they're one of the few schools to get that old Kyle Field experience where the visiting seats were about 15 yards past the endzone.

Damn, it really has been some time. Glad we got you guys. I have not so fond memories of A&M being strong (born in 82), and it feels like a natural fit for the conference and A&M. Looking forward to our meeting this year, definitely an upward trend under Jimbo and I think just as important the resurgence of toughness on D under Elko. A net positive for all involved having A&M in the SEC. Give credit to the decision makers at A&M pulling the trigger instead of wringing hands. Future is bright athletically for our conference.

Man that's crazy. I've enjoyed every season on being an SEC team. Not necessarily every individual game result, but playing this gamut of schools every year is so much more fun as a fan than the big12.

Doesn't feel like 8 years to me, either. Which I guess is as good a sign as any that I'm having a good time. Also have been married for 8 years and that also feels like yesterday

I heard something like this from a Clemson fan years ago. Don't get me wrong, they are clearly and deservedly happy with all their recent success but I've had Clemson fans concede waking up each Saturday on a week to week basis playing UGA, UF, UT, and even Arkansas every week (when they were our annual SECW team) was head and shoulders above the excitement for their annual ACC opponents sans FSU. Eventually VT and Miami were added to the mix but Miami clearly hasn't lived up to expectations of a 'big game' feel.

eta: That point is made pretty clear in that LSU-Texas ticket prices thread. Their home schedule:

La Tech
LSU
Ok. St.
KU
KSU
TTU

Without the only SEC school in there that's putrid.

Hence why texas has been talking about bringing the game back. Most Ags are much happier with our year-in/year-out conference schedule than sips are.
