I'm on a one day trip to Dallas and I leave right after a meeting tomorrow. Any recommendations on a place for dinner/drinks tonight? Just landed and near airport now, staying downtown though. Appreciate any prompt replies! Otherwise will assume you ask believe pork BBQ is best.

Drive to Houston or Austin and get some better stuff.

I don't really know, but Pecan Lodge gets a lot of hype.

Cattleack is the best I’ve had there but I think it’s only open on the weekends. Pecan Lodge does get a lot of hype, I’ve never had it but heard good things.

Pecan lodge is great, and has a live band on the patio on the weekends. Don’t know how it is during the week.

That's what I worried. I'll look for something else probably.

Pecan Lodge is great. Lakewood Smokehouse and Lockhart Smokehouse are both good as well.

Farmer doesn't know what the frick he is talking about.

Looks like I'm a little late for any of the bbq joints tonight. Looking at Meddlesome Moth as I've still got some work to do... Bring computer and have a working beer dinner I suppose. Next time hopefully I'll have more time and warning.

Well, you at least tried to get some of the best Texas has to offer. Beef > pork, chicken, turkey, fish.

Houston's BBQ scene is overrated.

There, I said it.

There wasn’t much of a scene 10-15 years ago. Now between Corkscrew, Tejas, Truth, Killens, Pitroom, & Pinkertons it’s pretty stacked.

Half of those are outside the loop. They're not even inside the beltway. I shouldn't have to leave the city limits to get good BBQ. What kind of a "BBQ scene" is that???

To only have a handful of "good" restaurants in a city of over 2.3 Million is pretty pathetic.

Yes if only Houston had a bunch good restaurants, that would be cool

Yeah. Houston isn’t know for its world class restaurants. What a dump.

Well, that's just not true. As one example, have you had Truth?
