I had almost kicked my addiction. Like any addict I had years of time and expense lost in following Aggie football. Countless hours of work time and time I would spend with my wife or kids. The Kyler/Kyle drama had finally done it for me. I was tired of getting emotionally wrapped up following a bunch of college kids and Aggie football. Sumlin did a great job of every time I started to think about taking another hit he would blow another game he was supposed to win. This year I only watched about 1/3rd of our games from start to finish and only even went to 1. It was great. My kids loved spending time with me as I coached their teams and my wife enjoyed having far more of my attention on Saturdays in the Fall while not sitting on pins and needles worrying about how miserable I would be to hang around if/when we lost.

Then this damn Jimbo crap happens and I am freaking all in again. I feel like an alcoholic who has gone on a week long bender and now all I can think about is going to the liquor store and loading up.

Damn you Jimbo, damn you.

I stopped getting visibly upset over sports 4-5 years ago, just kinda happened with age I guess. My son is too young to have any scheduled weekend activities so it's not too big a deal yet. #2 is on the way though and I've made peace with the fact that my weekend football binges are coming to an end.

I think as I’ve gotten older I’ve just naturally gotten better control of my emotions and not been as emotionally invested. However these last two years of sumlin coaching I’ve been totally apathetic and disinterested, I truly do feel he sucked the excitement out of the program.

That’s what makes the fisher hire so awesome, it’s not just the fact that he’s a great coach with skins on the wall, it’s the excitement and new energy he brings back to the program. I’m actually looking forward to this fall even though I don’t expect him to be able to pull a double digit win season right off the bat.

No, age and Sumlin killed my addiction permanently.

Looking at the schedule no longer gives me the kid before Christmas glee. We will be lucky to make a bowl the first season. I probably will watch around half the season or less. Poor performance in the first 5 games will probably get me to avoid the rest of the season.

I no longer enjoy sitting through losses.

I had to reevaluate some shite personally after t.u. 2011 and Spurs vs. Heat in 2013

Still super passionate now, but to the point where I enjoy the hell out of the highs but shrug off the lows pretty quick. Can't win 'em all. Gonna end most years as not the champ, no matter which sport (with few exceptions).

while i think we definitely make a bowl, i do expect some struggles next season. Especially if Sumlin ran his practices as easy breezy as we were led to believe. I foresee a lot of grumbling from some players out of camp when faced with a coach who's supposed to be a hardass. There will be an adjustment period all around for fans and players i think, and i'm ok with that.

I used to wake up all of hours of the night to watch Aggie Football on Armed Forces Network, This year, for the first time since I became an Aggie fan in 1991 and an Aggie in 1994, I failed to watch 3 games. Couldn't stomach watching the poor execution of Aggie Football.

All in with Jimbo, though
