Probably going to push out until the end of the week too, supposedly it's still split on Sumlin. Plus when meacham falls through we'll be delayed further.

If it's anything like the Auburn DC hire then we need to quit while we are ahead.

We're not going to sink another guaranteed 3yr contract with enough money for Meach.

Meach isn't coming here for one year, when he can stay at tcu for a raise, a more stable situation with guys he's already coached, and take a HC job next year.

But truthfully that's about all we can expect with a "dead man walking" head coach. I wouldn't want to join this circus, especially with the qb situation. This would be a very aggy hire. No surprises.

It will be fun watching people try to spin him as anything other than a journeyman coach.

Agreed. And it's maddening, if this is the way things go down.

If we hire Mazzone I'm done with Aggie football for a couple years. Won't watch next season in general principle.

This bullshite has to stop and I will not be a part of it anymore.

What I heard o Mazzone:

"If Sumlin tries to pull that, he will probably be fired. Mazzone would be an admition of striking out on top choices."

I know there's big big money involved, but given what we aspire to be, I can't see how the powers that be would be willing to allow the combination of meh OC hire + dead man walking HC. That scenario would have all kinds of stink on it.

They need to just fricking fire sumlin and get it over with. If there's "cause", use it. Dragging this shite out will just prolong the agony for another year.

He is currently the OC at UCLA.

Here is a good summary of his offense from a Cal blog.

The QB usually has a run or pass option out of the same formation, depending on the alignment of the defense. Here's a good explanation on how the "Packaged Play" concept works.

He also has a chronic clotting condition that could cause him to drop dead at any time. He's almost died twice in the last year.
