and even then we are kind of behind the ball already for this next class

we cant keep letting kids like ewers, burton, and bear go out of state. and while it sounds like we are gaining some momentum with harris, he probably be going out of state if he had to pick today

that has to stop

We’re never going to lock down Texas. There are just too many great players with options to go wherever they want. Lsu who is notorious for their ability to pressure guys to stay home still loses some major players to Bama and other schools.

we will never be able to completely lock the state down. but we cant keep letting top 5 instate kids get pilfered every year. we have to start winning those battles year in, year out if we are going to get where we want to go

Especially by Ohio state ffs. I had this conversation with my dad over the weekend. You can understand Alabama’s success with getting top kids in the state, but Ohio State to come down and routinely cherry pick elite talent really pisses me off.

ETA: happy about lj. Looks like jimbob doing a decent job of taking away my “3* U” shtick on recruiting board. Still want to be in top 5 every year tho.

Look at 2021 top 20

A&M 7/20 - avg ~10 (avg drops to 8 if you look at the top 4 only)
Bama 4/20 - avg ~7
OU 4/20 - avg ~12
Lsu 2/20
SMU, Ohio St, tu 1/20 ea

If we continue like this, we’ll be just fine. Believe it or not these top 5 locks aren’t all that much different than 6-15.

We have one top 5 kid, Bama has two and Ohio state has one

We are in a good spot for one top 5 kid next year. Ohio state already has two and is in a good spot for a third one

That's what has to change

Billy L is saying something big is still going to happen with a 2021 recruit. I guess Thomas, but I don't know.

Who else could it be. No way he’s talking Moko. That’s been in the bag.

Maybe referencing an OL transfer?

From Jimbo today:

quote:

“I love this OL class and we are not done....I’m just gonna say that. I think there are some things you are going to see in the very near future”

I know the guy is something of a dewsh, but I'm still amazed how quick so many posters on this site are to write off his info. He's usually accurate. He just is.

The Johnson kid from Tennessee still has to graduate before transfer, so it cannot be him. I think the next big hit is in 2022 but that is another discussion

What a 2021 class! Our DL and OL recruiting are definitely SEC quality. And I love the fact that Fisher came out and actually said that we have some really promising pieces on the OL, and may actually be better next year. See, I'm not crazy ;)

Needed LJ to keep that RB rotation going, and Malone was just a luxury we missed on. Nothing at all to be upset about in this class. Now on to 2022!

Not whatever to me.

Our OL play could be the difference between top 5 and top 15 this year. He may not be elite, but any highly experienced SEC OL is going to help this line. Look at the guys leaving. None are big NFL types prospects, but they were a group of seasoned vets who liked to push people around. This kid is in the same mold.

Still got Moko coming and fighting for Thomas. 2021 wants to stay alive a few more days.

But I do expect some big 2022 news to be part of Looch’s “earthquake” comment.

I think with continued success on the field it will help us get past LSU in recruiting and close the gap with Bama (however close that is lol) we’re going in the right direction though. Lot of reasons to be positive!
