I just hope he can stay healthy and handle this type of workload. Hopefully we see the backups all second half.

Yeah I said it in the rant thread. He fixed his goofy release and throws a much prettier ball now.

Yep. I want to see Jackson, Corbin, some more Etwi. Also maybe some more of the receivers like Rogers.

We have a Wisconsin-arse TE boys. Other pluses are a defense that hasn't given up any stupid big plays, plus Mond throws a beautiful pass when our OL gets their assignments right. Overall, I'm happy.

I am definitely going to draw as many conclusions as I can from a game where our D has allowed 87 yards. I’m convinced we are playoff bound right now. I will decide whether we win the playoff based on how second team does in second half.

Let’s just go ahead and mail our playbook over to Clemson
I think Clemson has a pretty good idea how to practice for Jimbo Fisher teams.

I don’t know much about football but even I can see Mond has made huge progress as a QB.

His velocity looks improved too.

These DBs are going to get beat like a dirty whore this week.

To be fair Renfro is awful. Devante "I just got burned again" Harris reincarnated.

my two big takeaways (other than TE play):
1) defense looked like they knew their assignment. I’m previous years it always seemed like guys were looking around for direction right as the ball was being snapped under sumlin's squad. tonight it looked like everyone was locked in, and ready to go.
2) it was amazing seeing the middle of the field being utilized again.

Good start, but plenty to work on -
1. No caused TOs
2. At least 3 dropped passes that would have been big gains/1st downs/TD
3. 2 players ejected for targeting
4. 2 unblocked blitzes with free hits on QB
5. 100 yards in penalties
One big positive (other than Mond’s improvement) was the ball-carrier running North/South. Didn’t waste yards running sideline to sideline.

Yep, TE doesn’t need to be stated. Somewhere in Arizona Kevin Sumlin is scratching his head this morning, still in disbelief that throwing to a TE is in fact a legal play in football and we just did it more times in a single game than all of last year.
Mond looked a lot better than last year. Sure it was NWST, but his delivery, speed on passes, and accuracy all looked greatly improved. If he really developed that much over a single offseason under Jimbo, we might win a game or two this year that we didn’t think was possible (but still probably not next week).
O-line looked great run blocking, but a little weak on pass blocking. Didn’t do well picking up blitzes and there were a couple of missed assignments. Hope they continue to improve and work better as a unit.
Targeting sucks. If a play gets stopped for review and we are involved, gaurenteed our guy is getting tossed.
Overall it simply looked like the first game of a season. Some sloppy play at first, but looked better by the end. We’ve got plenty to work on and improve at as the season progresses. I still stick with my 6-8 wins for 2018 guess at this time.

I liked that I didn't notice Hocker. To the untrained eye he was about as good as the other 4 tonight.
I didn't like that our WRs outside of Ausbon didn't answer many questions.
I think the frustration with the DBs is overstated. Oliver only really got beat on a questionable interference call and I never saw Renfro get beat that I can remember. Fuller and Elam had a couple of struggles and the safety play dropped off when the freshmen went in. But Carper played well behind Wilson.
Also, they had a lot of transfers. So they had pretty close to an SEC caliber receiver unit.

Oliver doesn't get his head around quick enough.

1. Mond had good decision making. Crisp and correct. No turnovers.
2. Hooray for TE!
3. liked the run blocking
4. Pass blocking better shore up a bunch for Clemson
5. I liked the front 7 play.
To Fix:
1. Targeting
2. Penalties.
3. I wish the DBs would cover tighter at the LOS and not give off such easy releases. But I don't know how they could cover after.

Game seems to have slowed down for him.
