I've noticed over last season and this season that Mond tends to look to Ausbon first on almost every read.

Not only that, but for all his hype, he hasn't been a very productive receiver.

Through 18 games, these are his stats:

65 catches for 892 yards and 3 touchdowns. His career long catch is 38 yards.

That is NOT elite starting receiver material.

Let's contrast that with the following players:

Camron Buckley: 35 catches for 560 yards and 3 touchdowns

Jace Sternberger: 17 catches for 256 yards and 4 touchdowns

Kendrick Rogers: 24 catches for 290 yards and 2 TD

Quartney Davis: 12 catches for 159 yards and 1 TD

Sternberger averages 1 TD every 4.25 catches
Buckley averages 1 TD every 11.7 catches
Rogers averages 1 TD every 12 catches
Davis averages 1 TD every 12 catches

Ausbon averages 1 TD every 21.7 catches

A possession receiver is a. Aluablenthing but even then Ausbon needs to catch more balls.

Next player up, IMO but it’s not ideal.

No. Less quality depth is a bad thing

Y’all are going too hard on CGSC

He’s got a valid point, yes depth is desired but he’s right, we have depth, we also have some talented young guys that might break out

You either trust Jimbo or you don’t. If you think he’s got a plan to get us on track and win championships, then there is a reason Ausbon is out there and he’s the best option we have at the position.

Yes he’s had a few drops this season, a lot of receivers go through a slump at some point in their college career.

Long story short, no it’s not a blessing in disguise. Not everything is measured in stats, he can have positive effects in other areas (run blocking, drawing attention from safeties opening up other receivers, etc.)

I picked up on that. As was my response to you and why I added the .... at the end. And upvoted weazel’s post after yours.

Ausbon has been the #1 outside guy for two different staffs, probably some solid reasons behind that.

And receptions per TD isn't the stat it's made out to be in the OP. Julio Jones is possibly the best WR walking God's green earth and he has had one of the worst rec/TD ratios in the league this year and last year
