I did not watch the game but shouldn’t there be a little more optimism around here now?

Didn’t Wegman have what would be considered a very good performance for his first time out after getting to practice with the starters on a game week?

I get it, we have other issues, but what I’ve read about Connor’s performance, Well it leads me to believe did he truly is the future at the position. That’s something to be happy about for a change

Did he murder some kittens after the game? What happened to take away all the optimism?

I understand the lack of excitement. Jimbo still sucks and a QB change isn't fixing that.

I mean, maybe a little bit. Does look like Weigman is legit, but we've still got a lot of issues at other positions to sort out. Offensive line is bad, linebackers too, some of that is injuries but not all of it.

Basically I'm not sure Fisher knows what he's doing to successfully move the program forward. It's year 5 and we are struggling to make a bowl, and he had the best QB on his roster sitting on the bench until week 8.

It'll take some big changes in the offseason for me to get excited heading into next year. New OC, new OL coach, keep the 2022 class mostly intact and on campus, etc. QB is just one of 10 issues with the program right now, and that's not something you should be saying in year 5 of a coach's tenure.

It’s sinking in with everyone that Jimbo never ever at any point in his life was the caliber of coach it took to establish and maintain a powerhouse program and took us for all we have. Not only that, but it’s a realization that we have retards running our university. And to top it off, some have known Jimbo was a fraud since day 1 and were ridiculed for doing so, that’s probably a little embarrassing.

Its tempered optimism for sure b/c:
1. Ole Miss has a bad defense
2. b/c Conner(and the offense) still went half the game without scoring points
3. Jimbo's bad scheme is still there and CW flashes will now make it less likely that Jimbo changes. Like a 'see, it really is just execution'

but Conner definitely looked really good at times and clearly is the best of the 3 QBs

No. As long as Jimbo is OC we are in the shitter.

I thought we all agreed that he was going to bring in an actual OC?

I think we have an outside shot at 6-6 at this point. Depends on if we beat UF next weekend. And hopefully, Weigman is medically cleared to play

Even with a change at OC, we've seen Jimbo fail at hiring a new DC, fail at hiring a new OL coach, fail at managing the roster at critical positions, fail to build a football team that executes at a championship level (whatever the off/def strategy may be) and fail to maintain discipline off the field

I think a good season is still possible down the road, if the boosters keep the recruiting at a high level, but I think the issues extend way beyond who is coordinating the offense.

He looked okay to me when the right play calls were made and he was executing. A little shaky late in the game throwing behind folks.

Is he the future at QB? He might be. Of course it is also not hard to stand out against the backdrop of an absolute offensive shite show.

Feel for Achane. He could have been getting national attention and probably some Heisman consideration if he played in a competent offense. Fisher riding him like a donkey. He must be completely gassed after games.

I'll believe it when I see it.

If CW plays as well as he did vs OM in the last 4 games than I think there is a good chance Jimbo will kill the idea of getting an OC who calls plays. He might move Dickey and a few other assistants but as long as CW plays well he'll have to ammo to make the case that CW can run his offense and there is no need to get a new playcaller.

Here's Bill Connell's (ESPNs SP+ creator) breakdown of the Ole miss game. Gives some interesting info:

I went to a game watch. An official game watch for a large county A&M club that normally has 20-30 people present.

There were 4 including myself.

Optimism is at an all time low.

Well, year 5 and look at whats on the field. Losing is never fun, but the way we lose looking so inept on offense has been extra painful so I'm not surprised. Wasnt planning on going to the game this week, but got offered a ticket so I guess I'll get to watch the letdown in person.

Apparently the whole team is now injured or has the flu. Weigman may or may not be in concussion protocol. We are down to third string in many positions so yeah, might be time to check out for the season.

Saturday is going to be a shite fest if Weigman cannot play. Apparently another three DB's, WR, and other players are not available for practice this week. It's going to be like the second half of the spring game ...
