Their rushing stats are terrible.

vs. Georgia they rushed for 77 yards on 28 carries (2.75 ypc) and allowed 121 yards rushing on 42 carries (2.88 ypc)

at Mississippi State they rushed for 63 yards on 37 carries (1.70 ypc) and allowed 87 yards on 24 carries (3.63 ypc) - THEY WERE OUTRUSHED BY A MIKE LEACH OFFENSE

at Auburn they rushed for 119 yards on 42 carries (2.83 ypc) and allowed 259 yards on 41 carries (6.32 ypc)

vs Ole Miss they rushed for 150 yards on 48 carries (3.13 ypc) and allowed 242 yards on 53 carries (4.57 ypc)

A&M rushes for 5.3 yards per carry. Isaiah Spiller averages 6.7 ypc and Ainias Smith averages 5.2 ypc.

A&M allows 2.7 yards per carry.

The Aggie defense, especially on Kyle Field, can make Arkansas one-dimensional...and when that one dimension is Felipe Franks? Felipe Franks is STILL Felipe Franks.

The Aggies have a good team. It may be a shoot out but I have no doubt that the Aggies will prevail. The coaches need to prepare them to fight for it. Why should Arkansas suddenly have a superior team? The answer is in the space between the ears.

Spiller, Smith and Achane should be able to run down Arkansas fairly easily. Their strength on defense is against the pass. As long as Moon Moon doesn't make an appearance...

Rushing yardage, YPC and rushing efficiency have very little statistical correlation with winning.

In 2020 games are decided by who throws it ball better, and specifically who throws it more efficiently.

So you don't think Spiller bullying Florida and Mississippi State had a HUGE impact on the outcomes of those games?

Do you think we beat Vanderbilt without running the way we did?

Speaking of throwing the ball efficiently, which QB would you rather have behind our O-Line right now?

QB 1: 80-130-2, 984 yards, 9 TD

or

QB 2: 82-128-3, 974 yards, 8 TD

We beat State no matter what Spiller does. The two scoring drives that totaled 9 yards were generated by our defense and special teams, and that combined with the 75 yard drive entirely by throwing the ball already gives us a winning margin.

No, we beat Mississippi State because they couldn’t throw the ball for dick. And despite our pedestrian numbers, our passing offense was much more efficient that theirs.

And Florida was all about Mond our dueling Trask. Both had QBRs in the 90s, but Mond was better and our passing offense was slightly more statistically efficient.

Teams who run the ball more efficiently win 54% of the time in CFB. Teams that pass it more efficiently win >80% of the time.

Need to pound the line of scrimmage. Run the ball, and run it some more. If you have to pass, use safe slants and passes to Smith and Achane out of the backfield.

Don't put the game in Mond's hands

Key to the game right here. The only time Mond should be throwing is when our running backs are gassed and need a breather.

The touchdown pass to Ainias Smith was set up by Mississippi State being so focused on Spiller that when Smith caught the ball it was too late.

Well the way the O Line has taken off the offensive play has gotten much more consistent and effecient. It's rather nice to see. When defenses can no longer load the box and have the entire secondary within 5-7 yards of the LOS it's great.

And Wydermyer has turned into our version of Kellen Winslow (the great 1980's Chargers TE). Catches everything and his blocking has been pretty dang solid.

That's false.

Incomplete Pass
5 card run by Achane
19 yard pass to Lane
51 yard TD pass to Lane (ran for 46 of those yards)

Why leave out the first TD Drive? 8 plays for 66 yards, all runs.

I think we need the line to keep doing what they’re doing and Spiller to keep having big games. We have a bye week, I want to see us establish a legit #1 receiver (now that Chap is out) and just more consistency overall at the WR position

I still can't figure out why we didn't have a single receiver over 6'1 playing yesterday. (Chapman is 6'5. Yes I know Preston and Brown are both listed as 6'2, but there's just no way)

The majority of the snaps went to

5'10 Ainias Smith
6'0 Chase Lane
6'1 Kam Brown

Dylan Wright is 6'4
Demond Demas is 6'3
Devin Price is 6'3
Kenyon Jackson is 6'6

I’m ok with Smith being on the field, he’s such a weapon. But outside of him our receivers are inconsistent, you’d think we’d see some Demas or Moose

Overall its a bad match up for us but some of those stats are misleading if you were not watching the game.

Especially in the Ole Miss and Miss St games, we were begging them to rush and baited them into some run blitz on key downs. Both those teams turned the ball over on 4th and shorts many times because they tried to run on what looked like small boxes. I'm interested to see what Odom schemes up for the game.

The offense is going to have to pick it up next week and be more consistent to win the game though.

Make Mond pass, wait for the inevitable interception/pick-six.

If you love Felipe Franks, you will love Kellen Mond. They are the same player. Luckily A&M has a more talented supporting cast.
