Was somebody else not looking at him? I cant remember if that was early enough for the LSU rumors once people knew Orgeron was out the door or not. Several people have claimed Woodward was going to have LSU offer a huge contract too, no reason not to believe multiple sources as it wasnt just our side (texags) that reported it.

Why no NFL teams? Why havent they come after Dabo? Bob Stoops in his prime? Lots of coaches do well in college and it doesnt translate to NFL (see probably the best coach in history that's in our divison right now). So that's not much of a point there.

Then make LSU actually make the offer before jumping out in front of the money train. The fact that they were able to pull Brian Kelly from ND w/a deal that actually has some (nowhere near enough but some) protections if he's fired really makes me wonder if the threat of Jimbo to leave was ever real at all. And if he actually came to us and said "Hey I need another $25 million+ guaranteed or I'm out" our answer should have been thanks for your time but you can start cleaning out your office now.

Those guys never ran an offense that supposed to make its players NFL ready so they are a poor comparison. The point here is if his system is so great preparing players for NFL you’d think an NFL would want him.

For all we know they did, it’s all speculation because schlubs like you and I will never know the real truth, but again, from the reporting it sounds like there was one. 8 years at 125mil. I’m not saying that’s concrete, but if people other than Billy Liucci and Texags reported it, that does give it some credibility.

At that time we were fresh off a #4 finish and looked to be building momentum. I don’t agree with it, but I can see why the AD got suckered in to it.

I doubt NFL GM/owners care if the coach they’re hiring out of the college ranks developed their kids for the NFL or not, just that they can run a good program that wins.

Look at Kingsberry, all uptempo/spread offense and he got hired by Arizona after being fired from tech mostly because they thought he ran a good offense, not because he “developed players at the college level well”. Again, fisher has a lot of things to criticize, but acting like no NFL teams wanting to get him is some sort of indictment on him is a bad argument. By the way, as of 2022 a 9 million per year paycheck like we pay him would put him at 5-6th place out of all coaches, so it’s not likely a NFL team will come pay elite level salary to steal a dude who’s never coached in the league before.

I still can't get over giving him an extension and raise. Why?

Perplexing to say the least. Still... I don't mind an extension and a raise because that's what college football has come to in many ways.

What I can't comprehend is why his buyout is astronomical. Saw a post on the main board and Fishers buyout is almost double that of Dabo ($47M) and 2.5X that of Saban ($38M).

If Fisher himself had written the contract and buyout clause it wouldn't have been that bad. JFC.

How much is Billy trusted? I’ve never read Tex Ags but isn’t that supposed to be the best insider y’all have or is Perroni? I say this because I think of course Woody reached out to Jimbo about the LSU job.

He's a mouthpiece for the athletic department, so any one individual piece of information deserves some amount of skepticism. But he is easily the most connected when it comes to things happening within the ad

Pretty much this.

He gets a lot of flak over here as several posters have been banned from texags at various points, and if he is the only person reporting something its definitely a "trust, but verify" type of situation. But he does have lots of connections so usually his info is reasonably accurate.

Mostly his biggest flaw is being too much of a sunshine pumper and never being critical enough of the program. Several threads (of which im sure the posters got banned) in the last few weeks calling out the fall camp reports. According to texags back in August, we were having "2012-2013 FSU level" type of practices, Haynes was slinging the ball well and we were going to have tons of downfield shots, and offensive line was going to be a strength of this years team....

Mike Elko. Easily. We get too enamored with gaudy offenses. A DC knows how to attack defenses. Look at the success Elko has had this year. Georgia in 2021 and Bama in 2022 show defenses still win championships.

Max officially w/a broken hand means we can add sending him go back into the game after it was clear as fricking day his hand was injured to Jimbo's list of failings.

Elko now has Duke at 5-3. For reference the previous 5 seasons under Cutcliffe Duke went 7-6, 8-5, 5-7, 2-9, 3-9.

I will literally take anyone else at this point. Fisher is about to see his #1 recruiting class head for the exits because he's a stubborn moron

his biggest flaw is being a thin skinned little bitch.

his SECOND biggest flaw is being too much of a sunshine pumper. but that's how he maintains access to the program and hordes of college girls.
