My 16 year old son and I are coming to College Station for first time Saturday to watch our Rebels get whipped. We are staying in Dallas Friday night with my cousin and are driving up early Saturday. What options are there for parking and how difficult is the traffic? We are planning on walking around campus after game to look but just want to make sure we are in Stadium in plenty of time for kickoff.

I wouldn't take that to the bank just yet.

Its mostly paid parking. I would suggest parking at St. Mary's parking lot for $10-20 if you're leaving after the game. Its a good walk, but a safe spot. Traffic won't be too bad if you're getting there early. 11am game after a disappointing pair of losses. You'll get to see a bit of Northgate (bar district) and the campus on the walk in.

If someone could comment on game day availability of WCG and CCG parking those would be better options, but I've never tried to purchase day of.

With the game being at 11am you’re going to have to leave at like 6am just to be safe from any potential traffic and parking issues. You might want to think about driving down halfway and staying in Waco Friday night just to make things easier on yourself.

I second the St. Mary’s parking lot suggestion

6 AM departure from Dallas is cutting it close

I’d leave by 5:30 AM so I have time for gas and breakfast on the way, parking lots fill up two hours before kick off, that means 9 AM spots start getting hard to find

I suggest you take I45 instead of I35. Park on the North side of campus. St. Mary's catholic church is $20 I think.

I would recommend the free shuttle parking, but I don't know how long the shuttles run after the game.

(To find out about the free shuttle parking, check out the "get to the grid" link on this page

Oh - and if you're staying in Dallas Friday night, eat at Babe's or, if you want some good brisket, maybe Pecan Lodge.

I personally recommend parking at the George Bush Library parking. Parking was maybe $20 (or less) and they have a shuttle that runs pretty frequently that takes you right to several tailgating areas and Kyle Field. Pretty convenient.

I was always a fan of north side garage as long as you don’t have to leave immediately after the game. It’s never full (at least not until right before the game starts), it’s less than a 10 minute walk to Kyle, it clears out within about an hour of the game ending and you can turn out right into University without dealing with the abortion that is central and west campus directed traffic flow.

Best place to park is in one of the lots behind northgate (EDIT: of which St Mary's is one). You're in walking distance of the game and it's usually not parked out even by kickoff.

You'll be near northgate, which has good food and good for walking around even if he can't drink.

Other options are all going to be dicey or require busses to get you back, which is a pain.

I have found the buses not to be a pain at all, and to be more than mitigated by the pleasant consequence of avoiding the traffic nightmares nearer to the stadium.

to each his own, of course!

If you want to avoid busses, and you like the Northgate option, a fairly short walk into the neighborhoods (like Inlow blvd) can provide some nice free street parking options. (Inlow blvd is about a mile, maybe a tad more, from the stadium).

If you don't mind about a 3-mile walk you're more than welcome to park in front of my house for free

Why not park at Post Oak Mall and take the shuttle?

I doubt you will get to your hotel in time, but you might check to see if Blue Moon BBQ is open and has anything left.

No, but we are staying a few miles up road Saturday night also and will check it out. Look forward to seeing the Stadium and Campus for the first time. Just hope it is not a complete blowout

My son and I went to the A&M/Ole Miss game last year. Had a great time. I have a parking ticket for street parking that I’ll never pay.

I had a nice time with the Rebels around us, though I might have expressed too much anger at that whistle that screwed up our return on that fumble than I should have.

They moved the shuttle down the street to Momentum Plaza, the ugly 20 story Don Adam building by Physician's Center.

Me, my dad, and gf did that for the UlM game. It was nice. Plenty of parking and plenty of buses going back and forth
