And yet, still, if you say Mond is a big part of the problem..

Chin Pubes IS the problem. For the good of all things Aggy he must be purged.

23/49 not a problem?

Even with the few drops he’d barely be above 50% for the game.

Actually he had to have had 6-8 passes batted down by LSU db’s. Either our wr’s need to know how to get separation or come to the ball or their secondary is just that good. I don’t put most of those on mond. There were a few where ausbon let the corner gain position on him.

I was there and could see the full field. Once again he was late on most of his reads and he missed several open WRs b/c of it. Until he is able to read the D faster and stops staring guys down (which could happen w/more experience) he will always have issues with DBs batting down his passes.

Mond has limitations as a passer, obviously. But I can see that he has improved since last year. We'll see if Jimbo can bring him along some more.

Jimbo frequently mentions how Mond checks into the right play at the LOS. Probably for some of Trayveon's runs. This clearly matters for Jimbo.

In my opinion, our bigger weakness is in the secondary. We really have to get better there in a big way.

I'm not saying he is the only problem and not saying that he hasn't improved. Just saying that he still has a long way to go as a QB if we are going to take the next step.

On the positive end, the kid seems to never get down on himself after a big mistake which is an incredibly helpful trait to have. He has a cannon of an arm which can help cover for his slow reads. The team clearly loves him which is a requirement to lead.

Our db’s are pretty good, and that was without Fulton and Battle playing, and without much of a pass rush. Fulton vs 13 would’ve been a great matchup.

Crazy to think last year we had Greedy, Donte Jackson, Toliver, Delpit, and (should’ve had) Fulton all together, along with the likes of Battle, Vincent and Paris.

I member when we led for Greedy for a brief moment in time. He’s a future pro bowler. Mond has struggled against bad secondaries as well. He’s just so inconsistent but there is so much potential

He is tough as hell and has zero quit which is why I badly want him to put it together

Mond

Pros
-good arm
-can make all the throws
-no fear
-no quit
-plus running ability
-shown flashes of brilliance even vs good defenses
-made great strides from year 1
-good leader
-good character
-hard worker

Cons
-slow through his progressions
-holds on to the ball too long
-constantly floats to the right
-streaky
-somewhat turnover prone
-how competitive is he? (this is more of an unknown to me)

To me, he's fairly split on the most important attributes of a QB. I wish he'd process information a little more quickly. It may just take another year's time or it may never happen at all. But if it does, I think the holding on to the ball goes away and in turn some turnovers as well.

Thing is, when he doesn't have the time to overthink things (as in the hectic last parts of Clemson and LSU), he can fling it around and is pretty good at sliding away from pressure. When he plays on his heels, though, he is just slow and indecisive.

Not sure how you get him to play with that urgency when the game is not on the line, but he has got to get better at not playing down to the situation.

If true, then that really is a problem. If Looch doesn't like the criticism he gets for fluffing the team (and my two permabans tell me he doesn't), then he needs to keep a professional distance.

Given that TexAgs has to be one of the biggest fan sites out there, his scorn for the posters creates an unhealthy filter. Do I think coaches and players consider posters to be credible voices? Not really, but the heat they can create is real enough. Looch is a wet blanket on all that, and I think he does it so he can be a "cool kid" to the program.

Pretty spot on. If he progresses next year like he did between last year and this one he could be special. But right now he’s not a championship level QB in this conference with the offense Fisher runs. He’s certainly earned the opportunity though to start again next year and see where he can go

And I think he’s very competitive as shown at the end of the Clemson and LSU games. He’s not extremely emotional but he clearly has a will to win. You don’t do what he did at the end of those games if you lack that. I think he’s just more reserved as a person

After seeing that almost gay picture with Manziel I believe every word of that.
