A&M did offer another QB today, Tua Tagovailoa, but Martell should understand the lack of depth at the position and realize that Sumlin probably needs to bring in 2 QBs in the 17 class.

we probably told him he was the only QB we were offering and taking back in august before kyle and kyler transferred. now that we have a hole to fill, we are trying to do so and it probably looks like we are going back on our promise regardless of what we tell him

Ya, I'm pretty sure we told him that he'd be the only QB we took. Because at that point, we had 3 scholarship guys all of which were sophomores or younger. Would have given us 4, including him, in 2017.
Trevor Knight graduates next season and we're back down to 2, without Martell. At some point we need to catch up and get more numbers at the position.

With Hubenak, Starkel and Martell I think you're fine at 3. If you aren't confident in Hubenak you try to get a grad transfer and that doesn't impact when Tate would see the field. I am fine with offering another QB if they communicate it to him and it doesn't jeopardize his status, but you can't frick up another big time QB commit. The negative recruiting material will make us absolutely toxic

Completely agree here. Makes way more sense to go the grad transfer or even JUCO route if they feel they need more numbers.
Besides, with all the trust issues being spouted off about Sumlin after Allen/Murray left, don't do something that makes your 5-star QB and monster recruiter not trust you.

I'm not going to speculate, but if those tweets were about us, that is insane. We somehow find a way to run him off and we can kiss 2017 goodbye and this program is in the dumps again for 3-4 years.

If we told Tate he'd be the only QB in our class, and we're now going back on our word, then that might do it for me re: Sumlin. Unless we're changing offensive philosophy so much that Tate can't help us, there's no excuse to betray his trust. And if we are going for a different type of QB, we should tell him outright.

We offered a lesser QB, didn't tell Tate beforehand and now Tate can't get in touch with the coaching staff. The tweets are 100% directed at Sumlin.
