When John Tyson got Cal to Arkansas, he addressed the crowd that fans need to pitch in more.
They do provide for football but they aren't getting any help and it is cheaper to do basketball because they aren't the loser that football is.

Basketball is a lot bigger brand than football due to the 90s nostalgia and Cal being a media magnet.

We might be staring down the barrel of another 2-10 season. I think Silverfield could be a decent coach, but he most likely underestimated what it'll take to win at Arkansas or in P4 in general. An OC like Cramsey and QB like KJ with very little experience won't cut it at this level. There's a reason portal QBs with experience are high dollar, and top coordinators are making $1.5 million-plus.
Maybe it's just first game jitters and we'll look like a different team next week after the coaching staff has film to work with and chews some arse all week. But I'm not counting on it.

First games are a crapshoot at least. SC barely beat old dominion two years ago and it was our best team in a decade.
