if I played considering CTE.

But no matter how well I played, I would not trash talk anyone when wearing one. That looks ridiculous. Especially if you weigh like 180 pounds.

I think any sort of padding loads up energy and can cause your brain to bounce worse in your skull....

No, it absorbs, dissipates, and converts kinetic energy into structural deformation and heat so it never reaches your brain.

They’re so fricking goofy looking. I giggle every time I see one.

You have contradicted yourself. it absorbs, it sure does, but it dissipates it back into the helmet and skull

It's why astro turf caused so many concussions. the padding makes it worse.

It carries the same problem as the other helmets. The better you make the helmet, the more comfortable you make players slamming their heads into other players. No helmet can protect against inertia and sudden stops or changes in direction

The best possible helmet would be one that protects your skull completely...but makes you feel every hit to the head in an extra uncomfortable way

Imagine wrapping an egg in several inches of bubble wrap, then throwing it down on the ground as hard as you can.

What do you think happens to the yolk inside the shell?

If they're really serious about stopping CTE, not to mention all helmet to helmet contact, take the face masks off the helmets.

They look goofy but a kid on the hs team wears on b/c he’s had multiple concussions. That case is sad.

To me it's the same as wearing boxing gloves... most mma guys will tell you they prefer fighting with mma gloves over the big padded ones....

There just isn't a safe way to collide with people or the ground....

Makes you wonder if ablative helmets are viable. Kind of like cars, they're designed to crumple.

I like them. They make them look like the Great Gazoo from the Flintstones.

There have been studies done and the results are that they do no better in game situations than regular shells do at preventing CTE.

Also, they are so bulbous and unwieldy it seems it could easily lead to a player twisting his neck, perhaps breaking it, much easier in a pile or with players landing on it.
