Someone explain to me how...

A kid can make a 'commitment' to a school, then turn around and say that his recruitment is '%100 open...' ??
Not that I'm worked up about the thinking of a pimple-faced highschool kid or anything, but just read where Micah Debose, 2025 top ranked OT currently committed to UGA said this in an interview with a Clemson reporter. I just wonder exactly what the kid's definition of 'commit' is and where is the logic in such incongruent terms.

In this day and age “commitment” is basically just “leverage”. Which is why there is no point in getting excited about any player until they appear in uniform on the sideline, and even then, there isn’t much reason as they can always transfer if the price is right. I cheer for the uniform at this point and only a few select players that maintained loyalty to it as well.

The whole process is silly and ridiculous. The recruiting sites have to generate business and they "crystal ball" shite to drive attention. A verbal commit means absolutely nothing because the kids (his agent & parents) are still shopping.
The top talent comes at a high price.

Immature with hundreds of people in his ear, on social media, etc... chirping at them. Grown arse adults pitching everything under the sun. Money being thrown at them at every turn.
It ain't their fault they decide and then change their mind. It's a wonder that any committment made by a 17-year old holds up to be perfectly honest.
The entire system is fricked. Even contract law recognizes a 17-year old normally can't be held to a legal contract and normally requires a parent or guardian to cosign.

Idk dude but getting upset and posting about message boards about it just makes you a bitch.
Those kids are doing what's best for themselves because no one else is going to.

In my eyes a "commitment" from a teenager means a lean

Same as I'm making a commitment to my steady girlfriend, but when I'm out with the boys, trying to hook up with a hottie in the bar...

Probably because they aren't public relations executives. They are 17 year olds and 17 year olds say dumb shite all the time, because they're teenagers.

I said it didn't upset me, just curious. Dang man, why the venom, go over to the Rant board if you're gonna be calling folks names. I thought the adults posted here on the Recruiting board and the...well, everybody else is over on that board.

They probably learned it from watching our “commitments”.

They simply don't know what the word 'commit' means.

You mean teenagers can be unpredictable and downright contradict themselves?

My man... Coleman committed to A&M with Auburn magnets on the refrigerator! LOL
Kids have different needs. Some have families who are poor, parents/relatives sick and
need medical bills paid, etc.
Then some of these kids are out for nothing but $$$ and a slick talking man can spin a kids head 360 degrees.
It is the college world we are living in. The game we are use to is about over.

I gave you my answer. It's every kid doing what's best for themselves. People like you "questioning their commitment' are just bitter old men lol

I don't think we should blame the recruits so much regarding their commitment. When agents, parents, HS coaches, grandma's, etc. are involved, there are a LOT of folks vying for a piece of the pie. Recruits have a ton of folks in their ear and a 17-18 yr old can be swayed with the wind.

I'm 53...does that make me an 'old man'?
