How are there 3 Top 100 players from less than 50 miles from Sanford Stadium that are committed to Oklahoma and Notre Dame?

#8 Overall - QB, Brock Vandagriff, Bogart GA (#1 GA) (#1 QB) (Oklahoma)

#43 Overall - WR, Deion Colzie, Athens GA (#4 GA) (#5 WR) (Notre Dame)

#99 Overall - TE, Cane Berrong, Hartwell GA (#8 GA) (#1 TE) (Notre Dame)

What is the story there?

Can't blame him for wanting to be in that system

Can't speak for the others but I'm not too worried about them just yet.

Vandagriff has openly said its Lincoln Riley otherwise he’s probably be in Athens. For his skill set, Oklahoma has kind of proven it can use him correctly.

If Riley leaves OU for an NFL gig, we are in good shape but otherwise he won’t be here

You're surprised a QB wants to play for Lincoln Riley and OU?

Everyone thinks we’re just supposed to be a default choice for kids. The fact those 3 are going so far away tells you that proximity to home isn’t a big deal. And I think it’s becoming less of a big deal for recruits.

Can someone explain Vandagriff for me? The kid plays for Prince Avenue. How the hell can he be the #1 QB in the country playing a bunch of private schools? They aren’t known for producing talent and they certainly aren’t competing against a ton of it, so how can this be accurate? I have my doubts.

You couldn’t have paid me to go to college within 50 miles of home

I don't think there is a clear #1 QB for '21. Vandagriff, Williams, and a few others can make a case for that spot.

Now in '22, there's a clear #1 QB. Gunner Stockton from Rabun County, GA.

I just assume he camps really well and in a system like Oklahoma’s, you just need to be insanely athletic and they can make it work

If the rumors are to be believed, there are current Georgia players that were telling young Brock to go elsewhere since Coley is a certified bum.

Will be interesting to see if one or more end up at UGA. Kirby has really shown his closing abilities this year.

Yep, UGA is certainly struggling to sign skilled playmakers on offense.

It's way early for those kids to be predicted to go anywhere. We all know how recruiting goes. UGA was in the lower tier of top 10 coming into Tuesday, and we are now pushing to grab the #1 class.

I can't blame any QB for wanting to go elsewhere after watching our season this year though. If UGA changes on offense a bit and looks really good next year, watch out though.

As mentioned, Riley and OU system very attractive. FWIW, some guys I trust in the Athens area aren't as high on him based on his on field efforts compared to camp results... Grain of salt and all that jazz.

Don't know anything about him, but we went hard after receivers in this class knowing they were a need. We'll see if he gets any increased attention going forward I suppose. Given ND choice, would say degree matters and may want to get away from home? Just speculation though.

Being honest, if I were an athletic TE, I'd look elsewhere myself. It feels like UGA fans are in a perpetual state of talking up how were going to increase TE utilization but we just don't. Maybe DW will be a turning point, but color me skeptical.

My son goes to school with him and I've seen him play several times. Good pocket presence, sharp throws, and good wheels when he needs it. His father's the head coach so comes from a good pedigree.
I hate to see him leave but certainly don't blame him for wanting to play for Lincoln Riley. Can you imagine what he would do with a kid in his system for a full 3-4 years?

Reading his 247 scouting report doesn’t convince me that he’s the #1 talent in the class. Nothing like Uiagalelei this year. He’s a tallish kid with a good arm, but the report is pretty clear that he’s not insanely athletic, nor is he consistent. And even they mention the lack of competition he’s facing at Prince.

Again, I’m not buying it. Eason and Franks were all-world guys in high school and didn’t pan out so well on the collegiate level. And those guys played much tougher competition.

Are you under the impression we are struggling in recruiting? We will not get all of them, but I promise we will get a goodly number of some of those top 100 recruits in Georgia. When our recruiting classes begin to fall off then I will worry. I honestly don't care if our recruits come from Georgia or from Hawaii as long as they can play.

I assume you asked an honest question, and that is an honest answer.

Riley had consecutive Heisman winners and #1 overall draft picks. They should be able to recruit whatever QB they want to.
