From an Auburn source, Finley is looking to transfer again and they’re talking about SLU as a likely destination.

Trivia: As a starting QB, Finley’s only wins were at LSU.

Weird throwing mechanics make all that height moot point. Gl to him though

Saw him lose in HS by almost 70 points, when he was LSU commit.

Thought then (and now) that SLU is where he belongs.

Makes sense. Played at Ponchatoula High. Back home.

Cole Kelly, former Arkansas QB (from Lafayette) won the Walter Payton Award at SLU in 2020. Finley could have similar success.

i witnessed him and his dad become completely unraveled at a 7v7 at SLU right after he gave his verbal as Jr.

they just lost the game, he was throwing a fit, and the refs for these games were SLU football players. they simply told him to shake it off, you're not winning the super bowl in may at an SLU 7v7 etc.....to which he responded, y'all just mad because i'm going to LSU and y'all stuck here. in part, he wasn't wrong.......he did go to LSU.....sweet ending if true.

Bout what I expected from him coming out of HS

Just never struck me as an elite P5 QB

would be an interesting move for SLU considering...

A) they have their 1A QB from last year's Southland Conference Championship-winning team already announcing his intentions on returning (Eli Sawyer)... who played the vast majority of the win over top-10 ranked Incarnate Word, inc. the game-winning 58 yd TD pass on the game's final play (seriously... who plays press man coverage with 6 seconds left in a tie game and the ball on the offense's side of the 50???)

B) NSU's starting QB from last season Zach Clement has already announced his intentions to transfer to SLU for next season

QB seems pretty stacked right now in Hammond... even before a potential TJ Finley transfer

Would be good for him to go back home. He would probably start just based off of atheleticism. Interesting scenario at the very least.

SLU has had a decent team the last few years. Offense has never been an issue. If they could play even above average defensively they'd have a shot to advance pretty deep in the FCS playoffs.

I have plenty of posts where I point out how much he wants to not get hit. He showed in HS he wasn’t power 5.

yeah... Frank Scelfo certainly has the Lions doing good things

and interesting you talk about the defense... SLU had 3 DBs named All-Conference this season... including 1 who is now headed to Baton Rouge to become a Tiger... Zy Alexander

True, but the last two years especially, most of their games are shoot outs.

Good move for him and hopefully a good QB coach there to work with him.

Crazy because plenty here were suggesting that’s the level he should’ve been at all along.
