If true, it is possible that he was going around explicitly asking for pay for play which is still an NCAA issue.
My guess with Alabama was Saban backed off him simply because Coleman or his family made it abundantly clear he wasn't seriously considering them. The guy is talented enough you pursue him unless they've given you some indication investing the time is worthless.
Aggy might want to be careful that they're not getting entrapped in an Auburn booster scheme here. The kid grew up an Auburn fan deep in Auburn country. Just something to consider...
