There seems to be some Tennessee confidence on Twitter. I would guess a UT recruiting analyst posted something favorable recently.

Gabe Brooks saying he expects King to announce something today. He’s leanin A&M but said Tennessee wouldn’t be surprising

What’s A&M QB situation like? As in who would he battle for starting job how likely is it he wins it and when?

Zach Calzada, out of Georgia, is a true freshmen who enrolled in December and looked really good in the spring. Most people expect him to start when Mond leaves, but that's far from certain. James Foster and Connor Blumrick are also hoping to compete for the starting job whenever Mond leaves.

Assuming Mond is back for his senior year he would almost definitely redshirt as a freshman.
We have Blumrick (sophomore next year) James Foster (redshirt freshman next year) and Zach Calzada (true freshman next year) also on campus. So those are the guys he would be competing with for playing time in 2021 or 2020 if Mond blows up and goes pro early. Blumrick and Calzada were 3* and Foster a 4*, all have promising arms but are pretty raw in QB skills. I think he would have a decent shot at beating them all out but I’m high on King

Good breakdowns, both of you. I think Zach is going to be pretty good. Even though he’s younger and wasn’t a high level recruit he looks like a potential stud. Plus arm and accuracy very early.

Yeah I expect at least one of Calzada/Foster to turn out really good. Early returns are good on Calzada

There would be an interesting Brandon Stewart-Peyton Manning vibe if King goes to UT. Stewart transferred to A&M afterwards. I dont think King would have a spot if he tried that

This one’s in the bag folks. HK has all the skills to play in the NFL. His pop’s a TX HSF legend and he’ll see the value of Jimbo’s pro style scheme and his ability to develop these QB’s. I mean nothing against Kellen but if Jimbo can take a mediocre talent signed by Sumlin and turn him into the 3rd best QB in the league imagine what he could do with HK. Plus the Ags have some ELITE dudes at WR and TE. It’s a done deal- he’s probably just putting together a killer commit video. Expect it to drop on Thurs-Fri

The Pigs have royally F’d up by taking Morris’s kid. It’ll wreck the locker room for obvious reasons and more importantly NO qb in ‘21 or ‘22 will even consider signing there. Every recruit that even thinks silently about Arky will be told by every other coach that he has no chance of seeing the field when the HC’s kid is on the roster. Y’all better hope Morris is Tua level once he takes the field cuz NOBODY will be coming at that position for a LONG time. Better hope the transfer portal can get you a decent QB (like Starkel) if/when Morris doesn’t pan out...

There was never a choice. If Chandler is a flop then Chad will have to decide if he wants to keep his son starting or keep his job at some point. Chad has a lot of work to do this upcoming year anyway before his son even steps foot on campus or he won't even make it to '21.

I'll give you raw, but Mond is not a "mediocre" talent. He was a high 4 star by 247 composite. Don't let Sumlin's lack of QB coaching fool you.

Wiltfong on Haynes King:
"Talked to a source regarding Haynes King that believes Tennessee is winning this recruitment in every department outside of distance from home. I've mentioned in the past if the Vols were closer to home I thought this would be done. Perhaps they win it anyway."

That's the sort of feeling I get, but still think he picks A&M.

All I know is A&M losing out on an elite QB to a nothing program like VOLS (who already have a 4* QB committed) would not look good whatsoever.

Mond was a sub par high school passer. He was highly rated because he transferred to IMG and was a big semi athletic guy with a good arm.

Yeah, I guess we'd be back in on Hornsby at that point.

I for one am A-OK with UT signing this kid, as it could potentially scare off Bailey, and more importantly keep Arik Gilbert from getting swayed to the dark side.
