BUFORD, Ga.- It was a deep and talented Atlanta Nike Football Training Camp on Saturday at Buford High as multiple members of the 2013 Top247 and several future elite prospects were among the best that showed up.


Linebacker Reuben Foster

Reuben Foster, the nation's No. 2 overall prospect, was the best prospect at Saturday's Nike Football Training Camp in Buford, Ga.

Unlike last week’s Miami NFTC, where the Class of 2014 clearly was one-up on 2013 in terms of overall talent present at the event, this camp was dominated by top rising seniors.??Seven prospects in attendance received invitations to “The Opening”, the premier summer elite prospect camp that is held on the Nike Campus in Beaverton, Ore., in July with portions televised live on the ESPN family of networks. Those prospects invited were linebacker Reuben Foster, running back Alvin Kamara, wide receiver Ryan Jenkins, cornerbacks Shaq Wiggins and Brendan Langley, safety Tray Matthews and offensive tackle Shamire Devine.

Here’s a look at the top 10 prospects at the event, according to 247Sports. This list weighs our opinion on in-camp performance and how the players project as college prospects. ?

1- Reuben Foster, LB, Auburn (Ala.)

Foster got dinged up during the camp, but was everything he has been during the drills. He’s extremely instinctive and athletic for his size, which has become significant (he weighed in at 246 pounds) and is proportioned perfectly for a linebacker. The nation’s No. 2 overall prospect continues to show that he’s a special, special football player. Foster remains committed to Alabama, but has visited other programs and until he signs the dotted line this coming February.

2- Alvin Kamara, RB, Norcross (Ga.)

Kamara, who weighed in at 196 pounds at the event, has a perfect body type for a running back, but we love his versatility and ability to be utilized in various ways in an offense- lining up in the slot or in the backfield. His speed and elusiveness were evident during the event, particularly during the one-on-one portion of the event and he was named the running back MVP by the coaches. Alabama and Georgia appear to be the strongest, but he has a boatload of offers.

3- Ryan Jenkins, WR, Marietta (Ga.) Lassiter


Jenkins, who recently was rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, is quickly emerging as one of the top slot receiver prospects in the country. For the second time in a month, Jenkins has been an impossible cover for any defensive back in a prospect camp setting. His quickness off the line of scrimmage, ability to sink his hips and get in and out of cuts and change of direction is at an elite level. His hands and ball skills have also proven to be on an elite level in the two times we have seen him. The younger brother of Clemson defensive back Martin Jenkins has offers from the Tigers and a host of others. We anticipate his ranking to continue to rise.

Class of 2014 future five-star Bo Scarbrough passes the eyeball test and is a very versatile athlete.

4- Shaq Wiggins, CB, Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek

What Wiggins, who weighed in at 162 pounds, lacks in size, he makes up for with elite ability in coverage, including outstanding footwork, recovery speed, change of direction and ball skills. He’s the most natural cornerback prospect outside of Vernon Hargreaves III in this class, the Georgia commit just isn’t terribly big. Some compare him to former Bulldog Tim Jennings and that’s exactly who he could become provided he develops as we believe.

5- Shamire Devine, OT, College Park (Ga.) Tri-Cities

We’ve always known that Devine has excellent feet and athleticism for a prospect his size. In recent months, he’s shed close to 20 pounds and it’s made all the difference in his ability to perform in this setting. During one-on-one drills, which typically favor the defensive line, Devine used his elite footwork and quickness to stop most of the advancing defenders in their tracks. Devine holds close to 20 scholarship offers. Georgia, Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt are the three schools that are in the best shape at this time.

6- Brendan Langley, CB, Marietta (Ga.) Kell

Langley is a big cornerback that could play free safety in certain systems. On Saturday, he moved around well, was good in coverage and was the all-around impressive prospect we felt he was when we ranked him inside the top 100 in our most recent major Top247 update. The 6-foot-1 athlete is a Georgia lean at this time and if the Bulldogs close the deal here, their secondary class is shaping up to be one of the best in the country, maybe the best.

7- Bo Scarbrough, RB, Tuscaloosa (Ala.) Northridge (Class of 2014)

While Scarbrough is an impressive running back prospect on film, he worked out at wide receiver on Saturday and at 218 pounds and nearly 6 feet, 2 inches, he could also project as an elite linebacker prospect. Regardless, we celebrate the future five-star prospect’s versatility and he’s obviously a special athlete. Alabama, Auburn and a host of other schools have stepped forward with early verbal offers.

8- Tray Matthews, S, Newnan (Ga.) Northgate

Matthews has elite arm length and you can’t draw them up better than him in terms of the eyeball test. The top 100 prospect nationally also moved around well and looked good in one-on-ones. He recently was timed at 4.45 seconds in the 40-yard dash at 190 pounds and is clearly an elite athlete.

9- Raekwon McMillan, LB, Liberty County (Ga.) (Class of 2014)

This type of setting isn’t where McMillan, a huge inside linebacker prospect, is going to shine as bright as he does on Friday night in pads, but he showed us, at least athletically, that he’s a five-star prospect for the next recruiting cycle. McMillan, who has offers from Georgia, Auburn, South Carolina and a host of others, showed better than average change of direction for his size and clearly has a bright future.

10- Jonathan Wynn, DE, Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson

Wynn, a Vanderbilt commit, has an excellent frame and a quick first step. In the Southeastern Conference, he is going to have to add strength and bulk, but we see no reason why he can’t and why he can’t become an impact player based on what he displayed Saturday. Stephenson annually produces multiple high-level prospects and this cycle is no different, so perhaps Wynn got a little lost in the shuffle, but he’s a good one.
