Rivals250 tight end Hunter Henry didn't make A-Day, but he stopped by Tuscaloosa on Sunday. The Crimson Tide was already near the top of his list before his visit, but this trip had a big impact on the lady who accompanied Henry to Alabama.

"(My mom) was impressed for sure," Henry said. "Sitting down in Coach (Nick) Saban's office, it was impressive because he's an impressive man."

The trio spoke about Henry's future and what it would be like at Alabama if Henry chose to attend the university. Henry said he spoke with Saban at length about his possible role, the NFL potential at Alabama and especially the importance of academics, something Henry places a priority on.

"Football is going to end one day," Henry said. "I'm going to need a degree so I'm prepared when I head out into the real world."

The four-star prospect out of Pulaski Academy in Little Rock, Ark., said one of his main goals for his trip to Tuscaloosa was to continue to build relationships with his prospective coaches. He also spoke with tight end coach Bobby Williams and receivers coach Mike Groh about what would be expected of him as a tight end at Alabama.

"They need someone who can do a little bit of everything," Henry said. "They said they want someone who can play H-back and someone who has good hands and can stretch the field."

The timetable for Henry's commitment is unclear, even to Henry. He plans to narrow down his list to four or five schools within the next month and plans to make his decision before his senior season, but isn't sure he will make a decision by then either.

Although his future choice isn't certain, one thing is. The Crimson Tide is in good position with Henry, which is good news considering tight end is a position of need for Alabama.

"It's Alabama football, National Championship football," Henry said. "It was at the top before this trip and it's still at the top now."

Most TE prospects aren't that great at blocking out of HS. He's being recruited for H-Back anyway, which holds blocking to a lesser value than the TE. You still have to block, but you don't have to be Howard Cross out there.

I guess they envision OJ Howard with his size to grow into a BMW sized TE and HH as the H-Back...

Plus, Malcolm Faciane will still only be a sophomore in 2013. He can take over that yackle blocking role that Travis McCall and Mike Williams have excelled at. Though, Williams may have a big role in the passing game this year.

He should be the frontrunner, but he's gonna have some competition gunning for it too.

I hope they get it to Williams a little more, seems like OJ Howard's commitment depends on it. Although with a 2 TE system, there will be double the odds a TE does well. Then again, they are gonna have to hold off Chris Jones in the 3 wide. Looks too good to keep off the field.

Mike Williams just needs to play a little stronger as a receiver, he shouldn't be taken down by a single DB as many times as I've seen it. I know Vinnie is Vinnie, but he took Williams down by himself at A-Day. Quite the size difference, although being more compact and more momentum equaled the playing field.

Chris Nee on Bosa's twitter comments:

quote:

He contacted me after he tweeted that. He asked that I remove the quote on the top two, I obliged. He also said that Florida and Wisconsin remain in it, after earlier in the day saying he thought they were out of it. All that being said, Ohio State is the leader after the recent visit and I actually think Alabama stands a better chance than Michigan with him. His top four that he gave earlier today remains the same - Alabama, Florida State, Michigan, and Ohio State - in no order. He said he is still evaluating all options.

quote:

I thought Alabama led when he departed on those four visits. I feel at this time it is a very tight race between Alabama and Ohio State.

I'm not sure an average of 25 yards between 5 players showed production or proof there will be a lot of passing to the TE.

It pretty much equals out to the amount of yards the TEs have usually been accumulating...

How does Rivals have Deon Johnson unranked and Anthony Averett listed as a three-star?

How does Rivals still even get looked at? That's the real question.

Rivals isn't as bad as Scout/ESPN. 247 is BY FAR the best though.

You bet your arse its coming for Averett if his summer camps are anywhere near as impressive as his highlight video. Kid appears to be a high 4 star on tape.

I don't really believe in the Bama bump, I was just messing around. I think that the Averett kid is solid though.
