According to sources, Alabama has offered Fayetteville (Ark.) four-star quarterback Austin Allen. Allen is the son of Arkansas assistant Bobby Allen and current Razorback QB Brandon Allen. Allen has offers from Arkansas, Notre Dame, He passed for 4,150 yards and 48 touchdowns as a junior helping Fayetteville win a state championship. I wouldn't be surprised to see his offer sheet grow with the uncertainty at Arkansas.

I see Aaron Lynch will be transferring from Notre Dame. He was absolutely unblockable the couple times that I watched ND play last year. The speculation is UCF. I wonder if ND would grant him a release to one of the big 3 in Florida.

Oh shite.
So I could actually be right on who we get now. However, my luck has been real fricking shitty when it comes to QBs in this class:
Hackenberg:
Zaire:
Allen:
And just for good measure, the curse is now official due to Austin Allen replacing Cooper Bateman on my Top 5 Uncommitted Prospect signature.

I'm never going to live this down.
And I know some folks close to Austin Allen from my time living in NWA. He's more open to leaving than Hog fans want to admit. He's tired of his brother's shadow.

What better way to escape your brother's shadow than to kick his arse on the football field?
I like Austin Allen more and more each day.

AA entered your top 5 after that news I see
I didn't post this yesterday, nothing real big other than the position changes and another positive review for Ely:
I didn't post this yesterday, nothing real big other than the position changes and another positive review for Ely:
quote:
*** On the final practice before A-Day, LB Tana Patrick moved from ILB to OLB, while freshman LB Dillon Lee moved from OLB to ILB. Kind of a strange development there given it was the last practice before A-Day. Rarely if ever do I recall moves being made that late -- usually anything that will impact someone's position on A-Day happens at least three practices beforehand. As such, I wouldn't be surprised to see Patrick back at ILB and Lee back at OLB on Saturday, but time will tell. ... Alabama is thin on depth at the inside LB positions, so Patrick would figure to be a starter for the team that has the #2 defense.
*** RB Blake Sims was in a black non-contact jersey again and appears to be out for A-Day along with Eddie Lacy and Arie Kouandjio. The guess here on the RB split for Saturday will be Jalston Fowler and walk-on Ben Howell on one team, with Dee Hart and T.J. Yeldon on the other. Regardless of how it falls on the roster, Howell figures to be the No.2 back for one of the two teams.
*** QB Phillip Sims appeared limited again Thursday. There is no reason to think Sims will be airing it out Saturday. I wouldn't be surprised to see him play, but hand-offs and maybe a screen pass or two figures to be the limit of his contribution. As such, fans should get their first extended look at redshirt freshman Phillip Ely. He has looked sharp this spring. His arm strength isn't even with McCarron or Sims, but he can make the throws and word is he's acquired much better command/grasp. Among the players who most fans wouldn't expect to be impressed by, he's a strong candidate to be an eye-catcher Saturday.
*** Don't be surprised if freshman Jack LB Ryan Anderson gets a long look Saturday with the second defense. While Jonathan Atchison figures to be the Sam with the twos, the backup Jack behind Xzavier Dickson is a somewhat muddier picture. And young players with high upside like Anderson tend to get longer looks when that is the case.

Yeah.
I would have had him above Bateman a long time ago, 42 days to be exact, but the odds on us landing him were slim to none.
Now, with the Petrino Motorcycle Club failure, I feel confident enough to bring him into the list.

Rivals250 prospect Vernon Hargreaves III isn't one to be satisfied with how he is as a player. He said there are things he would want to work on, and he is taking steps to improve himself.
"I want to get faster," Hargreaves said. "That's why I run track this year."
The five-star cornerback out of Wharton High School in Tampa, Fla., placed first in both of his events, the long jump and the high jump, on Wednesday. Hargreaves said his leaping ability helps him on the football field as well.
"Being a defensive back, it helps with my explosiveness as well as knocking balls down," Hargreaves said.
Hargreaves hasn't visited Tuscaloosa yet, but plans to make a trip in the summer. He said he likes Alabama because of the winning tradition and also the track record of putting defensive backs in the NFL. He said he likes the 3-4 defense and the personnel the Crimson Tide have running it.
"It's easy to cover when you have a good defensive line and good linebackers rushing the passer" Hargreaves said. "That lets me play a lot of man-to-man, which is my strength."
Hargreaves said the fact Alabama recruits such talent on the defensive line is a big draw for him. Although he said he thrives in man coverage, he said one of his other primary strengths as a player is his ability to play zone as well.
He said he speaks with Defensive Line Coach Chris Rumph often on Facebook and calls him once or twice a week. He has only spoken to Head Coach Nick Saban once, for about 10 minutes, but said he likes how well he develops his players, especially defensive backs.
"I've seen what he's done with players in the NFL," Hargreaves said. "They are very well coached, very fundamentally sound."
Hargreaves said he has no leaders in his recruitment right now and aside from visit South Florida's scrimmage on Saturday, he has no solid plans past that. He has only visited three schools, all in Florida. He's made trips to Florida, Florida State and hometown USF.
He said neither location nor conference affiliation are important to him. Hargreaves just wants to go to whatever school is best for him.
Hargreaves also said the defensive scheme isn't important to him, but he does have dreams of one day playing in the NFL. He said he likes the idea of playing in a pro-style defense like the one Alabama uses.
"It will obviously help me develop," Hargreaves said. "Starting that early won't hurt me."

Austin Allen
I remember posting on Hogville a while back (before the older Allen brother had even committed), and Hog fans had pretty much guarenteed that both would end up in Arkansas uniforms. I have no clue where they stand with Petrino gone as you guys have said, but they definitely agreed that the younger brother would be better even though they were both the real deal.
You have to wonder if Austin wants to actually sit behind Brandon in the first place if he's as good as people think...

That could help as well knowing that they play the same position. Austin might not wanna upstage and make bro ride the pine, so good for us
