Louisiana Rivals250 athlete Kendell Beckwith visited the University of Alabama on Wednesday and came back very impressed with what he saw from the Crimson Tide.
"It was great," Beckwith said. "I got to watch practice, and afterward I got to talk with Coach (Nick) Saban, Coach (Burton) Burns, Coach (Kirby) Smart and Coach (Lance)Thompson."
The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder talked with Saban about Alabama and where he would fit in the program if he decided to commit.
"He just told me how they run the program and what he expects from his players," Beckwith said. "We talked about how they operate. They see me at the outside linebacker position."
Although Alabama's defensive formation differs from what he is used to at his high school, the versatile defender said he would fit in well.
"They have a perfect defense," Beckwith said. "I really like their defense. For me, I can come of the edge or drop back into coverage kinda like Courtney Upshaw did. We have the 4-3 in high school, but I really like the 3-4, I like that I can play linebacker."
The No. 158 player in the nation holds offers from five schools, including a recent one from Notre Dame this week. However, two schools that stand out for Beckwith are Alabama and LSU.
"At Alabama, I just love the campus," Beckwith said. "I like the coaches how they have that drive and they really push the players. It just like it all, that school is nice."
"At LSU it is kinda the same thing," Beckwith said. "On defense they do a lot of the same things, they rush the guy off the edge a lot of the times too. Their campus is real nice, and the coaches are real nice."
A native of Jackson, La., Beckwith said he would have no trouble leaving the state if he decided to attend Alabama.
"It wouldn't really be hard," Beckwith said. "Alabama is only like three or four hours away from here, so it wouldn't be hard."
In fact, he said Tuscaloosa offers much of the same atmosphere he is used to back home.
"Tuscaloosa is similar to my hometown," Beckwith said. "It is like a really small town, country type place, and it is really similar."
Beckwith was equally impressed with the UA campus during his visit. On top of its appearance, Beckwith said he liked ho easy it was to get around on campus.
"I like that the players, where they eat, and live, and go to study hall, it's all in the same place," Beckwith said. "It is just really nice."
Beckwith said he plans to wait until the 2013 U.S. Army All-American game to announce his commitment. Though he is unsure on what schools he will visit in the near future, he said he plans to visit Tuscaloosa again in the summer for one of Alabama's camps.

Four-star quarterback Cooper Bateman visited Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama on April 1 and 2 and from start to finish, Bateman was impressed with what he saw.
"I don't know what I thought to expect coming to Alabama," Bateman said. "But I didn't expect it to be so green and so pretty."
The 6'3" 190-pound quarterback out of Salt Lake City, Utah said he toured the campus when his mother and he first arrived Sunday night. When they returned to campus Monday morning, they were greeted by coach Nick Saban and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier.
They toured the athletic facilities and Bateman attended a team meeting as well. He spent most of his time with Saban talking about Alabama and life on campus and what it would be like for the quarterback. More than anything else, he said the size and scope of the facilities were eye-opening.
"I loved it," Bateman said. "It was cooler than anything I'd seen before that."
Bateman stopped in Tuscaloosa during a road-trip with his mother in which he visited four different SEC schools. He visited LSU before visiting Alabama and headed on to Auburn and Florida. He said there are no leaders right now and he wants to take his time with his decision.
One of the highlights of the trip was a dinner Bateman had with starting quarterback AJ McCarron at Five in downtown Tuscaloosa. Bateman said McCarron was very down to earth and enjoyed his company at dinner but most of all, he was impressed by how McCarron treated people asking for autographs.
"People would come up and be like 'Hey, are you AJ McCarron?' and he handled it so well," Bateman said. "He was awesome, such a cool guy."
Bateman said he talked football with both Saban and Nussmeier individually, but he has spoken with Nussmeier most of all. He said he followed the new offensive coordinator when he was in Washington and likes his style of offense, despite the fact it may be different from what he runs in high school.
"At my school, they spread it out a lot with four wide receivers and all, but I'm more comfortable under center," Bateman said. "He runs an exciting offense and I'd love to be a part of it."
All in all, Bateman left Tuscaloosa with a greater appreciation for the Crimson Tide and how things are done at Alabama. He liked everyone he met and everything about the visit, and could tell the players on the team had a special dynamic.
"You can tell they work," Bateman said. "They know and love each other and it shows, especially on the field."

You were dismissive about Alabama's 1977 title claim despite not knowing what you were talking about. Then you questioned Alabama's 1978 title because of the loss to USC yet you fail to realize that Notre Dame lost to the same Ole Miss team that Bama easily handled during the 1977 season. How about doing a little research before calling Bama fans tards on this subject.

Not surprising.
We are fine at WR though. This class had bigger needs.

Yea i was pretty excited when i read his glowing comments about his ttown trip then i started going through his profile on diff sites and saw that he had made similar praises for both an Auburn visit and Lsu. Oh well at least we got a shot!

Yeah he seems very interested in the SEC schools despite being from Utah. LSU, Bama, Auburn, and Florida all seem to have good shots

As I've said before.....Austin Allen > Cooper Bateman. It all hinges on Petrino.

His brother and father are still at Arkansas, no matter what happens with Petrino..

Alabama 2013 commitment Andy Dodd visited Tuscaloosa on Friday, where he had the opportunity to watch practice and talk with coaches.
"It went great as always," Dodd said. "They were glad to have me. They were glad that I was able to visit again before the end of spring."
The 6-foot-4, 320-pound offensive guard said he enjoyed watching the scrimmage, especially how the offensive linemen performed. Dodd said he likes the intensity of practice and is motivated to work even harder.
"They work very hard and it shows," Dodd said. "I'm excited to be a part of it all. I've got a lot of work I need to do before next summer."
Since committing, Dodd said he has had the chance to talk with other Alabama commitments. Dodd said he recently talked with fellow Peach State commit Reuben Foster about playing together at Alabama.
"I've talked to Reuben a couple times," Dodd said. "We are just focused on getting better and improving this recruiting class."
Despite rumors of Foster possibly switching his commitment to play at Georgia, Dodd said he is confident the No. 2 rated player in the nation will stand firm in his commitment.
"I just don't see him doing that to Alabama," Dodd said. "Hopefully he stays."
Dodd said he remains 100 percent committed to Alabama and hopes to visit again sometime during the summer.
