I love Bama fans sometimes, I can't decide if y'all really believe stuff like this or if you are just here to troll.

It is kind of like all those Bungle Tiggers back in December talking about their team being the GOAT when all they turned out to be was another goat along the trail of tears. Fan do not have to be realistic, they are just fans.

Touche'
FTR, I was not buying into the greatest team talk, however, it was at least based on accomplishments. We had at that point beaten 3 top 6 teams (Alabama, Oregon and Arkansas) 2 BCS Conference winners (OU and WVU) and 5 top 25 teams.
As long as Nick Saban is at Alabama and recruiting great classes Alabama will be contenders year in and year out. The idea that you can run away and hide from the NCAA is just unnecessary arrogance.

shite, Bama will cease to be contenders once Saban is gone.

Run away and hide from the NCAA is not a bad thing to do. Running off and leaving the rest of the NCAA teams has no basis in reality. UA2010 edition was a more talented team than was the UA2009 team but they lacked the focus and leadership needed to win the MNC. The chances of doing it 3 years in a row is laughable to me. Even if Bama has the best players there are still way too many other variable involved with 18 to 22 year old kids trying to maintain the needed focus for that long.

There's a reason its never been done. Its really really hard.

Plus other teams have good players too. You have to play road games, all it takes is one key play here or there. In the late 80's Miami was basically 2 plays from maybe winning 4 MNC's in a row. They won it in 87 and 89, in 86 they lost to Penn State when Testaverde throw his 5th int in the EZ late in the game. They lost at Notre Dame in 88, they had fumble in the EZ that replay shows the guys knee was down, but no replay in 88. Also no OPT, so down 31-24 they score a late TD and go for 2 but miss.
But one of the variables that's hard to factor is how a team reacts after they win. I agree that you had more talent in 10 than 09, but maybe after winning they lose a little focus?
Anyway I apologize to you for my broad generalization about Bama fans above, both fan bases have plenty of irrational loons, the idea that you guys will be too good for rest of the teams in D1 is comical. You will be legit contenders for the for seeable future. of course.

Southern bias.
But really, shoulda been 3 in a row.

Not really, you only won 2 in a row because in 64 the AP still named the MNC before the bowls and in 65 they decided to do it after the bowls. In 64 you lost your bowl and in 65 you went into the bowls #4, but the top 3 lost.
As for 66 I've really never understood the argument. ND and MSU were ranked 1 and 2 and you were 3. They play and tie each other, how does that make you better? If everyone thought both were better going in? But even if you do get 66, you should have only had 1 of 64 and 65 not both.

you rewrite the rules after the fact. Bama should've threepeated in the late 70s as well

I'm not rewriting anything and there were no rules anyhow. The MNC was given out based on an opinion poll. The only reason you were awarded the MNC in 65 is because for that 1 season the AP changed when they would vote on who to award it to. If they used the same method both years, no matter which one, you would have only be awarded 1, so be happy you got 2. You complain when you get shafted, but don't acknowledge when other teams get shafted in your favor.

I assume you mean 77-79. 77 Notre Dame jumped you after they beat the living shite out of #1 Texas in the Cotton Bowl, while you beat the shite out of #9 Ohio State. In 78 you split the title with USC. Remember who you lost to that year? 79 you deserved. Take your 2 and be happy.

So the preseason poll is carved in stone? BTW it was UCLA and MSU that past you week 1. UCLA dropped to 4 after a 3 pt win over Rice and you dropped to 4 after a 1 pt win over UT. ND moved to #2 after 3 straight shutouts. Not sure if there was just shitty offense or you and ND just had great D's cause both had 6 shutouts

not much going on, unless you guys want to weigh in on the new "pipeline" that Saban is apparently building at St Aug in New Orleans

“It went well. The highlight was the scrimmage because I got a chance to see their sets an things like that,” said Langley.
“I was able to see how I would help the team if I were to go there. No disrespect to their defensive backs, but I was able to see why they’re recruiting me as hard as they are.
The four-star prospect was impressed by three Crimson Tide defensive players.

“We were very excited to see each other. He immediately made sure I was being taken care of. It was fun. I talked to Coach Saban, as well. He emphasized what he told me before. He said they need a defensive back, talked about my development in the future, and things like that.”
quote:
“No I didn’t (get to sit in on a meeting). I was kind of disappointed. Everybody was spread out and going places because of Easter. It wasn’t my last visit down- I’ll be back. That was my last visit of the spring. I’m not taking any more visits until the summertime. I’ll be back up there hopefully in the summertime so I can get a chance to sit in some meetings.”
quote:Brendan Langley on his visit.
Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama are my top three. I’m separating camps from visits. The days I go to the camps won’t necessarily be for a visit. I’m probably going to camp at Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama.”

The only ouch required is that CNS pulled in TWO JuCo Cb's in the 2012 class. That was a pretty loud and clear statement that they needed some help...fast!
I didn't know that and rather surprising, as I assumed Bama was strong at that position. Thanks for the info.
