We are after quite a few in La this yr and also a few more west coast guys than usual, and Nuss will help tremendously in that effort

As far in the South, we will get our share in-state & always should, also likely sign 4 or 5 out of Fla (hopefully Bosa plz god despite his HC ), we should sign a larger # in GA this yr, already got Foster & Tyren Jones , gonna get Nkemdiche on Aday might also get a flip on Aday & you guys know who I'm talking about, also looking VERY good for Alvin Kamara and we are after a few CB's, also if Nkemdiche wants the other Kamara to have an offer (forgot his name, earlier in the thread from an AJC article) expect us to land him ala Robert Lester with Julio to be a CB signee, and we still look really good for Montravious Adams, Ga's top DL, also forgot the WR's name, but there is a big physical WR Bama has a heavy lead for waiting on an offer he'll likely get this Summer

In La, Memphis has helped me tremendously this yr at who Bama is after to him. We still look good for Diarse, although LSU is now gaining ground, already got Falkins, we also are in good shape with DeSean Smith, but for reasons I won't get into (posted this on LSU Rb) I want no part of him, we are EXTREMELY good with OJ Howard, all I want is a bigger frame better blocking TE to complement, anyway we are also in VERY good shape for La's top prospect likely in Tim Williams & I want him badly. Don't think we pull away Jefferson, but he is a target we are after

Less talent has emerged so far in Miss, but great S and a few OL we are after, Antonio Conner & Ashton Shumpert are the 2 S, Deon Mix is a OT I like

I hope Auburn is after Antonio Connor really hard. We are very thin a Safety with Florence, Smith, and McNeal. Everyone else is a corner or walk on.

Roster news. Most we already knew

Just got official word:

Bowman, Carswell and Carter all still suspended

Love and Billingsley not to return for fifth year

Calloway to start spring at linebacker

I didn't know Carter was suspended. I thought it was just love, carswell, and bowman getting the boot. Sounds like it's just love and billingsley being asked not to return, and the others are in hot water.

SMH on Carter WTH is wrong with him??

Others expected

Also I'm friends with Jesse Williams on FB & was PMing him about lifting etc, he said Alphonse Taylor has already lost a good bit of weight & is getting ripped He also says he is one of the most impressive lifters already on the team & coaches are pumped about all 8 EE's.

Now for good DL stuff:

Rumph is working on implementing even more 4 man front sets with Fanning & Jesse at DT & moving Fanning over to end in 3 down, he told me to expect to see him on the field A LOT this year, got a lot of versatility & Hubbard & Dickson at DE in some of the 4 man, also Dial will factor in at DT & some end in 3 man, but Williams said he expected Fanning to jump over him in Spring

Agreed. Even though I have a growing partiality to Zaire, I still realize there are better QBs Bama is in contention for. Dominoes are gonna fall with most of the QBs this month or the next, so it's nice to be in it for as many as possible.

Also it seems Zaire has one of those "come to camp before it's legit" offers, which is to be expected with some QBs and players like him...

Looking through some more Southern guys and I found another QB, listed as a 3 star now, tell me what you think Saint

Ryan Buchanan 6'4 205 Jackson Prep

1st Half - LINK

2nd Half - LINK

Sadly looks like his HS coaches run a lot of CALLED runs and don't use nearly as much deep routes as they could with his arm strength, but I like his feet, throwing on the run, 2 way mechanics to zoom or put touch on it

What say ye Saint?

You seriously have to take MPSA competition with a grain of salt. Even the Jackson schools. I lived in Mississippi for two years in high school, and the competition in the MPSA was a joke. I played against maybe two SEC caliber guys in two years. One went to State. The other to Vanderbilt.

SEC caliber players are far and few between in the MPSA. However, we do have Anthony Steen from Lee Academy in Clarksdale. One of the exceptions. You won't even see many former guys from the MPSA on the rosters of Ole Miss or Mississippi State.

What's with Carter anyway?

quote:

The Carter suspension announcement is the one that surprises most. Alabama missed the big play potential that Julio Jones brought to the field every Saturday, and Carter was expected to make an immediate impact in 2011. However, he never attained academic eligibility and was forced to redshirt the season.

Going into spring practice, Carter was again expected to make a push to get on the field. As late as the Friday before the BCS Championship game, Carter’s father Cris told a crowd at a luncheon that his son would be eligible to play and that the Tide had “big things” planned for him. That apparently won’t happen and it remains to be seen if he ever sees the field in an Alabama uniform.

I found this to be extremely hilarious, especially because I agree with you. Those preppy bastards think they are all amazing athletes.

I'm from Jackson and graduated from Clinton, but I have friends and family that went to private schools in the MPSA.

Now, Prep is arguably the top private school in the state, and they have beaten MHSAA teams before, but their level of competition is laughable.

I'm on my phone so I can't give any insight to the player Bucc mentioned, but I will do my best to analyze him when I get back from lunch.

I'm starting to feel the same way about him. I watched his film a few more times on a larger monitor to really get a look at his mechanics and I like him more each time I watch.

MPSA schools weren't even playing MHSAA schools when I lived in Mississippi. I remember when the announcement came that there would be games played. It was a huge controversy. I think Jackson Prep played Greene County, or someone in south Mississippi, and was absolutely slaughtered.

I can't really check him out from my phone, but I will say that I remember Mississippi State either offering Buchanan a few weeks ago or that they are very close to offering him.

I'll look at him after lunch.

not really. LSU is pulling away.

This one you have a good shot at. Your staff was on him way earlier as we reported before NSD last month. Can't believe it took your side that long to discover it. That said, his HS is on our campus. Not a few miles away... ON IT. He also has a daughter and that might weigh into his decision as well. A few of his teammates are the sons on our coaches. With us likely losing Mingo, Edwards, Chaucy, and Montgomery we have the selling point of early playtime. I think like Mingo, he needs to redshirt to bulk up some.

Still think he signs with us though. He's a clone of Mingo, and how often will he play Jack with Nkimdiche at Bama or the other ten Jack LB's.

You forgot Santa Marina and Standish Dobbard.

For whatever reason our insiders are reporting that our staff is not too high on Marina. Look for him to commit to bama soon. They also say Dobbard is likely headed out of state, but I think AU leads.

Prep beat St. Stanislaus in 2009, when Dylan Favre was St. Stanny's QB, 21-20.
