Yeah I saw that this morning. I guess I wouldn't be upset with Bateman, but he definitely isn't my first choice.

They talked to my coach and he let me know. Alabama has been recruiting me for a while, but I was surprised they offered me,” said Cravens.

“I haven’t talked to anyone from Alabama yet, but being offered by the best team in the country is an honor and an opportunity kids would kill for. Well, I know they always have a big and fast defense and with the class they just pulled in, that looks to continue.”

“I only have two for sure visits planned right now and don’t have a top group or anything. Those two visits are Florida and Michigan.”

quote:

“I’m looking at what position they’re recruiting me to play, if they have my major, and just if I’m a good fit there. I’d prefer to play safety or outside linebacker and want to major in business management. I’m also looking for a coach that isn’t afraid to play his youth and will offer me the opportunity to compete for playing time as a freshman.”

Alright. It's QB "time" again.

I read an Alabama Recruiting Notebook on Scout by Andrew Bone, and in it he states that Hackenberg committed to PSU (obviously), but that Max Browne and Cooper Bateman were still on the board.

He then mentioned another QB that claimed an Alabama offer named Kevin Olsen. I checked 24/7 and they don't show him as having an offer, but the kid is the 45th ranked player in the country, so I figured "what the hell, may as well check him out."

First off, I think he took every snap in the above highlight reel from under center. I was pleasantly suprised at that. He play-faked numerous times as well, which was nice to see.

His arm looks good, especially rolling out of the pocket. He doesn't have a rocket of an arm, but neither do Brown or Bateman. He has really good mechanics, even though he does dip his non-throwing should a little on harder throws. He has really nice footwork too.

He looks a little bigger than the 189 pounds listed, but it's hard to tell because the camera never gets close.

I think if the coaches went after him hard, we might be able to pull him.

Oh yeah, his brother is Greg Olsen, former TE from Miami and current Carolina Panther.

Here are some quotes from his father/coach:

quote:

“We’re going to be at Arkansas, Auburn, Wisconsin, we’re trying to get to Alabama, and we’re trying to get to Stanford as well. We’re going to try and squeeze them in. That’s the plan right now, but it’s crazy because everyone is doing things at the same time.”

quote:

“The offense is certainly important,” Chris Olsen said. “I think not only what they do offensively, but who is coaching it. Those are the two things I am really keeping an eye on.

“For Kevin to flourish, I think it’s the pro-style offense where you’re under center enough times when you come out of college. I think you need to be under center enough, and that’s one of the things he does well.”

There is also no timetable for a decision.

quote:

“To us, it’ really doesn’t matter,” Chris Olsen said. “He needs to get to the places he hasn’t seen so he can make a good, sound decision. When that light goes, ‘Hey, I like this guy, I like this program, I like the guy that’s coaching me,’ you call the coach and say your coming.

“Whether it’s next week, next fall or signing day, I don’t know when that is going to be. I always feel you don’t need the fanfare. You’ll know when you’re at the right place.”

This kid looks pretty good preciate it too bad you put the "TideSaint" curse on him lol he will commits to Miami soon j/k

Also another funny article by AJC about Nkemdiche and how he finally put UGA in the top 5, what AJC fails to realize is LSU was left out and will likely replace them after he visits Baton Rouge lol, also interesting comments about him and Kamara being a package deal, AJC tries to slant it as he is a UGA lean because the Dawgs want him to play CB, but Bama wants AK at WR which gives us the edge but I thought it was interesting

No shite. I'm not that high on Cooper Bateman though. I guess that means we will get him?

The AJC has gotten kind of pathetic. It's only going to get worse though.

As unofficially official as possible. You can take it to the bank, eventually.

Oooooooohh I got you Trey sorry took it too literal thinking that was the Mickey Conn pun in our convo

Well not surprised in the least, especially Love overrated Sombitch I remember watching him get blasted at a camp and shocked he was a 5 star when 225 lb DEs were making him look silly, but sadly his signing was all perception IMHO, bit I think Wilson will be a good utility player, and SMH at Bowman I actually liked him coming out but never grasped any offensive concepts also SMH at his Twitter explosion about "filling stands at BDS next year" SMH

In other news I keep hearing very good news on Cooper who racked his brain all Summer with the PB and knew EE gave him a chance to earn PT, he's been beasting and expected to easily move up the depth chart when camp starts, he looked more physically ready and more athletic than a few Soph and Jr WRs, he's gonna be a good one, I think we FINALLY hit the motherload of talent at WR with more than 1 in this years class

OJ Howard is a MONSTER

quote:

MOBILE, Ala. -- The 2012 Nike Football SPARQ Combine tour traveled along the Gulf Coast on Sunday after Saturday's event in Houston. Over 1,300 participants were tested and competed at Lipscomb Stadium in Mobile, Ala. One of the top prospects from the Yellowhammer State was on hand and secured the fourth invite to "The Opening."

O'Terrius "O.J." Howard is a 6-foot-5 ½, 224-pound tight end who has already been named an all-state selection twice while starring for Autauga Academy (Prattville, Ala.). Howard made an early commitment to defending national champion Alabama way back in July. The ESPNU Watch List talent didn't hesitate to jump at an opportunity to compete Sunday and he certainly made the most of it.

Howard finished with the combine's top SPARQ Rating at 104.22, improving his rating from the same event a year prior by five points. Howard ran an impressive 4.63 40-yard dash, while also throwing the power ball 38.5 feet, jumping 33.2 inches in the vertical and clocking a 4.44 in the 20-yard shuttle.

Following his big day of testing, Howard was rewarded with the fourth invitation to the 2012 "The Opening" in early July.

"I came down here with that as my goal," Howard said of earning an invite to the elite Nike event this coming summer. "I'm looking forward to it, as it's a great opportunity to compete against the best."

"I've been working hard this offseason," Howard said, "flipping tires and light poles; all the stuff we do out in the country and it's good to see it pay off."

Class of 2013 Top Performer

O.J. Howard, TE, Autauga Academy (Prattville, Ala.) Howard is regarded as an elite prospect at his position and for good reason. A physical freak who played all over the field this past fall for his high school team, Howard could end up at tight end at Alabama, but also could fit at outside linebacker or defensive end. The possibilities are endless with an athlete like Howard.
