I'd like to add Kevin Faulk for consideration. He held the record for all-purpose yards and touchdowns in the SEC until Tebow. He is currently third in rushing yards all-time as well.

According to the SEC website, Kevin Faulk still holds the career all-purpose yards record.

Herschel Walker
Bo Jackson
Cam Newton
Reggie White
Derrick Thomas

***Peyton Manning***- Included in top 6. Would perhaps be higher but he never won the big game.
Derrick McFadden

It was a travesty it took that long for him to get mentioned. He should be the unanimous #1

I've got nothing against MacFadden, but you got guys like Emmit Smith, Reggie White, Peyton manning to consider. I am now wondering if Tebow and Cam belong on the list.
true story. Dmac was a hell of a player, but he isn't top 5 at his position, much less any position

Newton may be the best of them all, but I was just thinking that only really playing one year in the SEC might make his inclusion a little more difficult.
no doubt, if one year can get you in this discussion, how about Cecil Collins, amirite?

Well, you wanna talk about one year. Colt David is the SEC's single season scoring leader.

I can see an argument there. But you also have to include what a player does for his team (the Peyton Manning effect). No disrespect meant towards Felix Jones, but Without McFadden, Arky doesn't sniff the SECCG in 06. Being a Heisman finalist In 07 doesn't hurt either.

Kevin Faulk has to be the most underrated player of our time. He was just on a bad team his last year which seemed to have ruined his legacy.

Hmmm. It depends what you mean by "top." Do you mean most impactful, most popular, most talented, and/or most successful? Some of the players mentioned in this thread clearly meet all of those criteria (e.g. Walker and Jackson) where others do not. Cam was certainly one of the most talented SEC players over the past 5-10 years and definitiely one of the most impactful, but he really only played one season. How many of you really think of Cam Newton when you think SEC tradition?

Why do I have to include what a player means to their team? doesn't make them the BEST players, it makes them VALUABLE players. pretty big difference IMO

You could make the argument that Cam was the most impactful player in the history of CFB
