You can really find any play like this during the Crowton years, specifically 09 or 10. But the one that sticks out most.

2009 Capital One bowl vs. Penn St.

Less then 1 minute left - LSU is down by 2. All we need to do is get into FG range. A couple of good plays, we are around midfield. 40 seconds left - no timeouts - Gary Crowton calls a fricking SCREEN PASS TO THE MIDDLE OF FIELD. Ridley was immediately stopped and time ran out.

A screen pass to the middle of field was the absolute WORST possible call to make in that situation.

1. It wasn't long enough to pick up a first down
2. It was a high percentage completion play, which means the clock kept ticking.
3. It was to the middle of the field - not in a position where Ridley could run out of bounds.

Don't forget that a middle screen required Ridley to run through that mud hole in the middle of the field. Which essentially killed the speed advantage we would have had with it. Ridiculous play call.

Les Miles got here in 2006, after 2009, nothing surprises me anymore, but at least 3-4 calls a game from 2006-2009.

Lateral pass on kickoff inside the ten yard line against UF in 08. Gators scored that same play to go up 21-0 in the 1st Q. Coldest, rainiest day I've ever had in Florida.

1994 SEC CG vs Fla. Stallings went for 1 after a TD instead of 2, late in the 4th quarter. Bama was 12-0. Lost by one point 24-23, only loss of the season

Bama had no shot at winning a national title that year with Nebraska and Penn State ranked ahead of them all season long. The decision cost us a SEC Championship but nothing more than that.

Come on.. you know yall would have claimed that shite

Miles has obviously surprised us with his playcalling on a number of occasions, but the only true "WTF" moments on play calls for me both happened before Miles and both against Auburn...

1994: After Jamie Howard had thrown three interceptions, two returned for TDs in the fourth quarter, and with only about 3 minutes left in the game, with our defense totally shutting Auburn down, leading 26-23, facing third and medium distance, Lynn Amedee dialed up another pass...intercepted and returned for the winning TD by Auburn (Auburn's 4th defensive TD of the game, and the 4th of 6 interceptions Howard would throw in that game). Final total offensive yards: LSU 407, Auburn 165. Final score: Auburn 30, LSU 26.

1997: Cecil Collins had run for 237 yards on 27 carries in the game, while Rondell Mealy had added another 144 on just 14 carries. To say the least, we were absolutely dominating them with our running game. On 3rd and 2 around midfield, mid-4th quarter, leading 28-24, we have Herb Tyler (who was 5 of 20 for 100 yards and two INTs at that point) roll out and fire a woefully inaccurate pass to the sideline. Then, on 4th and 2, we punt. Auburn drives for the winning TD with 30 seconds left after LSU DBs drop three interceptions on the drive. Final total rushing yards: LSU 377, Auburn 53. Final score: Auburn 31, LSU 28.

How in the hell can you lose two games in which you A) outgain the other team 407-165 and B) outrush the other team 377-53?

When I think of LSU and unbelievable plays I immediately go back to the 2007 Auburn LSU game. That TD pass as time expired...I still can't believe he called that play and I still can't believe it worked. What would have been the fall out had that catch not been made?

Mullen's first year against LSU. 1st and goal from the one or two. Anthony Dixon standing behind the qb ready to bulldoze anyone who gets in his way. If they stop him once, do it again, or just sneak it four times. What do we do? We throw a jump pass with our midget qb. We run an option with our midget qb. We lose. I almost puked. I had to hold it back. Would have made a bowl game if we had won that.

I'd say about 50% of the offensive plays in the last couple of years.

When Saban was coaching at LSU, LSU was playing Fla at home. In the midfield celebration, Fla was jumping up and down on the Eye of the Tiger........

Fla was pentalized 15 yards on the kickoff. LSU lost and had to kick off.

Saban had never gambled on anything......

I told my wife this would be a great time for LSU to persue the onside kick.....

and that is what Saban did....an onside kick and lSU drove down and had Fla 7-0 and Fla never recovered.....as LSU won.........

Not true. Bama would have played Nebraska in the bowl game for the title. Penn St was stuck in the Rose.

okay this brings up a disturbing point. Does ohio state get to claim a win against the SEC in bowl games now?

4 seconds left on the clock after he caught it. If he drops it....FG attempt.
