Alabama will have the deadliest backfield in the country and probably the best tightend room too.
If Cupp can stay healthy I would put him and Wydermyer up against anyone. That is a big if though

No he wasn't
Did he grow taller? He was listed 6'7 last year too, if he's fatter now, well, that's on him.
quote:
Mr. 5-star and finished the year with 7 catches and 0 TDs over 10 games.
He was a freshman and wasn't the starter....
Surely the "starter" tore it up over Mr. 6'7 5-star TE then, right?
Tre' Mckitty - 6 catches, 1 TD
John Fitzpatrick - 10 catches, 1 TD
So UGA got a whopping 24 catches out of ALL your TEs despite having a 6'7 5-star in there as well.
BTW- Pretty sure Arik Gilbert was a freshman too, he had 35 catches, didnt even play the whole season and had 2 true freshmen throwing him the ball the majority of the year
So once again I go back to laughing at a "highlight" of a guy in the spring game who the DB covering him literally fell down and he trucks a white walk on safety as anything meaningful for us to digest here on a team who has repeatedly refused to utilize your TEs year after year.

He had more catches than all of your tight ends combined...

Gilbert is the very definition of soft. He quit on LSU because he didn't want to deal with the physical aspect of being a TE, and the rigors of a full year. Dude is more of a WR who couldn't block my grandmother ...
He can catch the ball though

I agree, he definitely has some issues to work through.

He was the only player who was worth a damn on your team and now he GONE. tDecline is real

quote:IMO, the secondary will be a strength of the team. Bama will have 3 SEC starting quality corners (Jobe, Amour-Davis, McKinstry) and 4 starting quality safeties/nickels (Battle, Hellums, Moore, Branch). Secondary is loaded.
My guess is that the secondary gets torched some but wouldn’t be surprised if they got 45-50 sacks depending on how many games they play.
The outside rush should be spectacular.
ILB (Moody and Harris) will be strong vs run and OK vs pass.
If Bama can get a pass rushing push up the middle (Tim Smith, ?Ray?, ?Payne?), this D should be scary.

It will be a miracle if the Tennessee defense can hold opponents under 40 points and 500 total yards per game.

Tennessee has some really good WRs.
Bailey needs to be the starter
RB as a group looks really good. Individually I don’t see a dominant player
Oline is going to be OK not great or even very good
DLine is the strength of the D and isn’t great.
LB and DB cannot afford to see a player out.
Scheme:
O- the team will score a bunch. The O is fast with enough talent to keep the game interesting. The balance between run and pass is something you don’t see in these Os unless it a running QB but Heupel seems to not forget about the running game. Tennessee has 4 guys that should get the ball from the RB position regularly and 2 short yardage specialist. TE looks to be more of an HB in this.
D- it’s going to be a long year for the D if nobody waves a magic wand of finds a cheat code. The group is very young and very inexperienced and very thin with an O system that does them few favors.
Fortunately the schedule is not terrible
Bowling Green
Pitt
Tennessee Tech
@Florida
@Mizzou
South Carolina
Ole Miss
@Bama
@Kentucky
UGA
South Alabama
Vandy
Going Bowling looks very realistic if the NCAA allows it

6-6 ish?
7-5 is the ceiling barring the unforeseen. 6-6 is the most likely with 7-5 more likely than 5-7.
They should beat bowling green, South Alabama, Tennessee Tech, South Carolina and Vandy with ease. They likely will split out of Mizzou, UK, Pitt, Ole Miss. I just don’t see them going 0-4 unless the team just flat out quits. Now that’s assuming no devastating injuries and things don’t change drastically in the other teams.

Well after watching the game yesterday my thoughts are as follows
- our defense is going to be really, really good. Better than last year
- offense has potential, but the WR's have to stop dropping passes. Would like to see some of the starters sit for the second string that seem to actually catch
- OL will be inconsistent, but has some promise
- QB will be excellent if Fisher can drag out the competition into the late Fall to keep the loser from transferring.

Ole Miss will have their way with us, it's just too bad a matchup. I think Mizzou is a bad matchup as well, but if we can beat Pitt, I think we can beat Kentucky. Both of them are similar types of squads, the big thing is Kentucky is away so that's an advantage. I could easily see us going 0-4, even if the defense is a lot better than it showed yesterday. Tyler Baron is the only guy that played yesterday, that will start on the DL in the fall, and Morven Joseph was probably the only fall starter that played LB yesterday. I'm gonna say that probably hurt the secondary yesterday, but to be honest, the first team guys mostly went up against Hooker, so they didn't get burned as much as it would have seemed. Bailey only had one drive against the 1st team D and while it was a scoring drive it wasn't as eye popping as his earlier drives. Which is why when it's all said and done I think Maurer wins the job.
