Something I have noticed about northern people that moved to Metro Atl.
Most northern people look down on anything associated or connected with the South but when it comes time for their children to go off to college they are not nearly as picky.
These schools they turned their nose up at are OK now.
I always found that rather amusing.

For me: MSU, I don’t know if they have a airport
None. They're all good schools. Where they go would depend on what they want to study and how much it costs.
However, if they passed on LSU, State, and Auburn, that'd be ok.

Send your kid to MSU and he'll come back to visit you with interpersonal skills, work ethic, and a decent degree.
Send you kid to Missouri, and you won't want him to come back.

State had a nationally elite engineering program back in the 1960's for several decades beyond. My dad graduated and worked for NASA his first job out from Mississippi State. It was MIT, Georgia Tech, then MSU in terms of quality back then. Academics seem to be much less of a priority with the current university president, as they have only steadily declined since he has been there, but things can turn around. As we have grown to be the largest school in the state, quality needs to be a new emphasis...but its still mississippi and if you want 25K students to help fill the coffers (lets be honest, its a money grab at this point), you cant be too picky.

Probably Ole Piss. The acceptance rate there is like 90%, the only degree worth getting there is some business bull shite and daddy's handshake to get the job.
You're better off saying you never attended college than putting ole shite on your resume.
Ole Miss and Miss State have the unfortunate position in that all state universities in Mississippi have the same admission standards and entrance requirements. And here's that standard:
You can be admitted to a Mississippi university by meeting any of the following criteria:
» Complete the College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC) with a minimum 3.2 high school grade point average (GPA) on the CPC; or
» Complete the College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC) with a minimum 2.50 high school GPA on the CPC or a class rank in the top 50%, and a score of 16 or higher on the ACT* (Composite); or
» Complete the College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC) with a minimum 2.00 high school GPA on the CPC and a score of 18 or higher on the ACT* (Composite); or
» All students satisfying the NCAA Division I Standards for student athletes who are "full-qualifiers" or "academic redshirts" are accepted as equivalent to the admission standards established by the Board.
» Students who do not meet the above criteria are nonetheless eligible for admission. Such students must participate, however, in an on-campus placement process at the university of their choice.
======
Think about this for a moment - Delta State, Alcorn State, Southern Miss, Miss Valley St., Ole Miss, and Miss State - ALL have the same entrance requirements by law.
Now, I'm an Univ. of Alabama graduate. All I'm saying is that each university in the SEC has strengths and advantages - but also some disadvantages. Sometimes direct comparisons are not 100% fair without knowledge of some underlying issues.
And finally, my youngest son is a graduate school admissions counselor at a good school in the SEC footprint. I have asked him to give me some thoughts about the quality of schools in the SEC. When he gets back with me, I'll post them here.

Nothing trashy about a well done, professional tattoo.
But there are a lot of poorly done, trashy tattoos out there.
It's like a shirt. There's a lot of ways for a shirt to be trashy, but there's also plenty of options out there for quality, well made, and even classy shirts.
You see?

As to CrownTownHalo's downvote of Sewanee, my son is a Sewanee
graduate who became an orthopedic surgeon at no cost to me through the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (the US military's medical school), with Walter Reed (residency) and Duke (fellowship) training. One could do a lot worse than graduate from Sewanee.

If you're from Texas, might as well send the kid to Arkansas.
It's University of Texas at Fayetteville these days.

If they want a course of study offered by a top current or former SEC school, I am cool with their choice.

To answer OP:
South Carolina, based on distance alone. I wouldn't honestly care too much, but that's a long damned way to go to attend a big state university when there are plenty just as good much closer.
