I heard it's very difficult to get an academic scholarship at Duke and Vandy, because everyone applying had a 4.0+ GPA and 30+ ACT.
Yeah, Diddlers is right, don't confuse admittance requirements with merit scholarships.
It might be easier to "get in," but a Presidential scholarship at Alabama is still 3.5+ GPA and 32+ ACT.

So let's pay out of state at one of those instead of attending the other colleges in Georgia? You think to highly of yourself.

At this point, between tuition and general welfare and learning, I'm semi hoping my daughters want to do something small and different and learn history and humanities their first few years in a small setting. Not to mention paying $45K a year for a solid but still very much general state school education is patently absurd.
My son will go to Alabama

Do you keep up with NASA, shuttles, Artemis mission, etc? That's not bottle rockets that Aubie is designing!!!

Depends on how they do and the end result.

A&M is a good school but looks like a Soviet military base but with less architectural appeal and campus feel.
That is about the dumbest thing you have ever said on this board. A&M's campus and gump's campus look very much alike except A&M's is about 5 times bigger

Without casting dispersions against any school in particular, at least for me, it would be entirely based upon their overall reputation, academics, job placement for their perspective field(s), location, proximity to home, crime-rate, and the demographics of the area, etc. So, from the beginning, that would probably knockoff: Kentucky, Mississippi, Mississippi State, and South Carolina (and an argument could easily be made for another 2-3).

I literally said “rich metro ATL kids”. A lot of people just want to go to the best big party school they can. A lot of Teenage girls would rather go to Kentucky than Kennesaw, and their parents will pay for it

By the time the boy is going to college it will probably cost 125,000 Amazon Bucks a year

I agree. Not sure you got the Archie Bunker reference.

I’m quite surprised LSU is higher than auburn. They make auburn sound like engineering gods.
Those numbers are, in all likelihood, wrong, but then again, you can pull rankings from anywhere, etc. As for the College of Engineering, we're currently in the Top 25 for public institutions and Top 50 overall.

My son - A&M. I don't want him to come home gay.
My daughter - Ole Miss. Similar reasoning, but not quite the same.

if he’s that young don’t count on him being a gump. I was as big of a UGA fan as you could be growing up and I came really close to going elsewhere

Crying out loud man, you do realize AU is not the only school that has engineers that work at NASA right? Hell the Director at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville is a Bama grad. So all your AU engineers answer to her. In fact UAH dwarfs both UA and AU engineers

I don't count on anything in terms of where they want to go to school.
He'll definitely be a gump, though (he already is a gump). He just might take his schooling elsewhere.

No reaction to BoyGeorge?

i stressed a lot about what I would do with my fandom. I would always be a UGA fan but I knew if I chose to go somewhere else UGA would have to take the backseat.
A&M was actually one I considered.
