Texas LSU Arky . 3 schools close to OU and it would be a balanced schedule .

Edit - The scenario above would represent Arkansas being pushed out of the Southeastern Conference. Betrayal is the only word to describe it. If that pairing is the future, then Arkansas should have never joined this conference.
I mean as a Gamecock I am kind of saying the same thing. Because the league tries so hard to keep old conference rivalries, SC gets pushed out to playing A&M, OU, and Mizzou....none of which we give 2 shits about.
The SEC has to be willing to sacrifice some old rivalries...which they lost the argument for when they agreed to expand

For Ole Miss:

Vandy should be on there, they were for so long. It only makes sense! trade LSU for Vandy!

Not really a rival when you lose to Bama 80% of the time. Especially at home
Its a more competitive series than Bama vs Tennessee this century

For me personally,
1 Texas
2 Tennessee
3 TCU(football) UNC (basketball)
For the program as a whole:
1. Texas
2. LSU
3. Aggie

Nah, Missouri is boring. I can't bring myself to care about the outcome very much, and I never look at their schedule or their record even when we're playing them.
inb4 "it's because we always beat you." Nah, I just don't care. Aggie has been whooping that arse too and I DO care about that.

quote:I understand, but Missouri has to play someone, and you happen to be next door. If I were an Arkansas fan, they wouldn't be high on my list either. Missouri's real rival isn't an SEC team, but they are going to play 3 schools every year, unless we pull a Big Ten and just go to something crazy where some teams have 3 permanent opponents, and others have one.

The reason I like 3/6 where you play everyone over four years is, apart from selection of the initial 3, it minimizes opportunities for schedule manipulation by Birmingham.

How about we kick out Missouri and add Oklahoma State?
Would y'all like that rival better?

I know people like to complain about an easy schedule, but do some people here actually think that schedules get manipulated? Surely you don't actually think that.

Ok but don't take LSU away. Take Aggie away (no offense to y'all. Only that most middle age people and younger remember the Boot more than the SWC)

Depends on your definition.
In 2013, Arkansas didn't win a conference game the whole year. Auburn won the conference and played in the national championship.
The opening game of 2014 was Arkansas at Auburn. Arkansas had never and has not since opened the season with a conference game. Auburn has certainly never traveled to Fayetteville to open a season.
Hope this helps.

Florida, even though we've never had easy permanent rivals, is:
UGA ,Tennessee and LSU or Auburn. LSU has become a rivalry but AUB has more history
There are a number of SEC teams now that don't have big SEC natural rivals.
Tennessee - Kentucky, Bama, Vandy, Really?

No auburn fan regardless of age is saying ole miss. The younger fan would say lsu as our third along with the obvious two.
