Why the frick not? It's a glorified practice. I'd practice onside kicks, and then put the backup offense in and have them throwing bombs. Then practice some Hail Marys.

I know...besides the onside kick in the 1st quarter...Tennessee was brutal in trying to run up the score. They ran the ball 55 times with 6 different running backs, and threw the ball a whopping 16 times during the game. They even threw the ball 3 times in the 2nd half and ran up the score by kicking field goals from the Kent 17 yard line and one from the Kent 3 (with 14 minutes left in the game. It would have been much more "RESPECTFUL" to have taken a knee on the Kent 3...don't you think. I mean...there was only 14 minutes left in the game, when they kicked that one.

If you give your kicker a green light to onside kick any time the other team leaves a gap, then that's what happens.
Heupel should have taken a page from drunk-tits playbook and thrown the ball 14 times in the 2nd half like MIZZOU did against Murray State in their 51-0 win (and kicking a field goal in the last 2 minutes), instead of throwing it a whopping 4 times in the 2nd half and turning it over on downs at the Kent State 5( instead of trying to score again).
MIZZOU was up 48-0 and kicked a 27 yard field goal in the last 2 minutes...but, sure...they didn't "run up the score" like Heupel did.
Onside kick in the 1st quarter vs garbage FG in the last 2 minutes of a blow-out. Which sounds more like running it up?

Agreed. Run up the score, run the offense, but the OK was cheap AF.
