I remember the 9-6 game especially, people's butts were on the edge of their seats just about every play....

Hands down, the best game I've seen in BDS. I wasn't even mad when we lost. We played our asses off and just couldn't make the plays we needed in the clutch.

Both beat the shite out of everyone they played, except in the two matchups they had.

You know what REALLY pisses me off about 2011?

Yup, LSU's defense was on the field all night.

And Bama turned a green AJ lose on first down leading to 5 F.G.'s

Set the tone for the game. Chavis cleary wasn't expecting Bama to be in BYU mode in the first quarter.....

Anybody who truly appreciates the game should respect that. We can talk about missed field goals in game 1 or JJ in game 2, but we may never again see a game where BOTH defenses were at such a level.

The defenses were great but the teams as a whole were pretty damn good. The indication of that is the total combined number of draft picks from both rosters is close to or may be the record for a NCG. I think we still have another year before those rosters clear and the final tally is done...FWIW

The fact is that all the 21-0 shite talk from Bama fans just validates LSU and make the Bama fans look common and exposes poor sportsmanship. That's fine, welcome to the mud. I'd like you to meet my friend, Tusk, he's from Arkansas. He'll show you your way around...

ut that 2011 LSU defense deserves better than mockery and constant talk of mulligans.

Who is mocking them? Hard to dispute it was an incredible season - and not just from an LSU perspective, but nationally. Only our sidewalk fans haven't gotten over the loss, everyone else has moved on which is why those paltry 21-0 "zingers" don't work.

Both defenses had an incredible run in 2011 and I hope there is more of that to come soon. Being able to stop high flying offenses IMO is as exciting as watching prolific offenses.

If Mett is the QB for the 2011 team, that would have been something to see.

The two best teams of the SEC national championship streak, imo. It's unfortunate both had to play in the same year

Bama was the best one loss team and only LSU, OSU, UT and AU fans dispute that. Bama didn't deserve to be there if another BCS conference had an undefeated team, but fortunately for Bama that wasn't the case. It's not Bama's fault LSU can't get up to play for a national title in their own backyard to probably go down as the greatest team in college football history. The sting of having to play Bama again was just to much to overcome.

Back in the 70s and 80s, Alabama fans knew their place and acted like it...

But Nick Saban going to Bama kind of ruined that and here's why: Bandwagon fans. In the years just prior to Saban's arrival at Bama, the faint of heart had abandoned Alabama football. Then with the new found success the bandwagon, sidewalkin, t-shirt wearing fans showed up with very little knowledge of Bama's past, even less personal experience with it, and with a complete lack of sportsmanship.

In short, Alabama fans have now dropped down to everyone else's level and don't represent the class of the conference anymore.

I'm a lifelong Bama fan...grew up during the Bear's regime...watched the decline after his death...enjoyed a brief resurgence under Stallings...followed the tough years of Dubose, Franchione, & Shula (won't mention Price since he never coached a game)...welcomed the emergence of Saban and finally a return to prominence...and I'll say this: there's a lot of truth to your post...

I was talkin' with a co-worker (and fellow Bama grad) the other day 'bout Charles Barkley's recent comment 'bout Bama and LSU having the 2 worst fan bases in the SEC...sadly, we both agreed with him...

The 2 best teams in the BCS era. Unfortunate they fielded them the same season.

:BAMA/LSUFAPBOARD

LSU had one of the best regular seasons I have seen but to say that team that showed up to the title game was the 2nd best team in the best 10-15 years is crazy.
