If we take WV, can we get rid of one other SEC team?

Imagine if all of Kentucky was eastern Kentucky hill country and that’s it. No Lexington horse farms, no Louisville area bourbon distilleries, no Churchill Downs, etc. That’s what virtually all of West Virginia is. There isn’t a meaningful metro area in the entire state. There’s zero reason to expand there and it simply isn’t happening under any circumstance.

It's certainly hit and miss in some respects:

Morgantown is like being in Boone, NC - cozy and off the beaten path from materialistic America. That little strip of Maryland that's close by, Cumberland is kind of a shady town, and Hagerstown I believe is pretty crappy. Parkersburg area and then up the Ohio river to Wheeling south of Pittsburgh is great people

I believe the Washington DC TV market could be considered legit in some of the eastern parts of the state. Not sure if DC is something to brag about.

I think Charleston sucks pretty bad.

Saddam's Press Secretary would like a word with them.

And " That little strip of Maryland that's close by," is a deserted wasteland with a few bombed out looking small towns.

LA was one of the worst additions to the union, remains so, but you don’t hear anyone babbling about that do you?

Meth? We have Missouri for that

West Virginia would be a much better fit. Mizzou was like plugging rutgers into the big 10

Its not just me. I didn't even take a dig at mizzou. Its just not a good fit. Just like auburn wouldn't blend in super well with the big 10. Tennessee wouldn't blend well with the pac 10 if that was still a thing. Your state does border multiple sec states, I'll give you that but every original school feels like yall were forced.

Locked On podcasts have fully gone into sensationalism. They just deal in conspiracy theories and it's intentional. Imagine "Ancient Aliens" but for CFB when they don't have actual football to cover.

The only promotion candidates to the B1G or SEC that I can see are the former Pac 12 corner teams and maybe Kansas for the shooty hoops brand if that still matters. Maybe Tech I guess?

I have seen LSU play from California to New York. We were at WVU in 2011. It was terrible. Fans were beyond disgusting. Only place my wife and I agreed we would never go back to.

The ASU/LSU series back in the day would have been awesome, but Katrina*.

*Early Doucet did drop that TD.

I think it's actually supposed to happen in 2029/2030? The 05 game was a classic. I'd recommend a visit if you're still traveling for games.

The Locked on podcasts are as you described. They love to bait and switch, talk about everything but their headline.

The 4 corner schools are in a good position because the P2 will need more Western teams.

The days of regional conferences are long over. It’s time to let go of the past. It ain’t coming back! And if you knew anything about Southern Missouri, it is TN/AR southern. It’s not Georgia Southern, it’s not SC Southern, but all of the states in the southeast have different types of “southern“. This whole dream of the “old SEC” is great nostalgia for ya’ll but it’s over. Time to move on to 2025 & beyond. We are pushing 13 frickn years!

Kansas is just a good addition in my opinion. They’re consistently funneling money into their athletics program. They’re familiar with many current members of the SEC. They would have one of the best football/basketball combo coaching staffs in the SEC. Instantly raises the basketball profile of the conference. I just worry about would happen to KSU. Kansas State is too iconic to just fade into CFB History. That purple wildcat deserves a seat at the table somewhere.

I’m torn on this. Do I see the SEC going west? Probably not for a while &/or if our hand was forced to make that move.

Hince why I personally see LA in the B1G being “a waiting game” if it’ll pay off.

Gives us Pittsburgh, DC, Baltimore, and chunks of NJ.

I have a lot of WVU alum friends, great bunch. No burnt couches yet.

It works for Kentucky, UT, Carolina, and even GA.

They are currently spending a fortune on travel with no rivalries.

Their football team would thrive in the SEC. I am not saying they are going to be in the conference championship hunt every year but that they would be a solid team that could contend at times. Might also be able to pull some attention from the SEC’s biggest competition, OSU. Other sports more of a meh but that doesn’t matter these days.

You guys need to stop always thinking about what teams offer as soon as they join and be proud of your brand. Your brand and money will make whoever joins a better fit over time. Look for schools with big money outside of sports that have a president or administration willing to spend dollars on football. Everything else will grow in time.

So let's go back to school for a couple subjects:

1. Grammar.
-LA = Los Angeles
-La = Louisiana

2. History.
-La was not added to the union by itself.
-the Louisiana Purchase occurred in 1803, when the young U.S., under a new strong federal government created with the constitution(no articles of confederation for you CSA apologists) acquired a massive amount of land from Napolean's French regime.

3. Geography.
-828,000 square miles of land was included, doubling the size of the U.S.
-Sale price was $15m, or about 4 cents an acre.
-The land includes the territory of what is 14 states today(including previously discussed worthless Mizzou)
-It was the largest land purchase in the history of the world.

Any questions?
