If their valuation is so strong, why are more athletic departments sinking into the red? Programs that use to turn a net gain, now have net losses.
This article is valuing football teams, not athletic departments. Once you add in a bunch of non-revenue sports teams (including enough women's sports to offset the football scholarships) it quickly eats away at football profit.

Poor
Go see if you can use this as collateral on a Liberty Prevost Motor Coach.

Haven't won anything of note in the last 3 years though.

Seeing LSU, Alabama and Nebraska in the top 10 despite their states' relative population makes it clear they're national brands.

I'd say the same for Notre Dame, except I think they're pretty much ONLY a national brand - I don't know how much they actually associate with their home state.

Texas, Texas A&M, Michigan, Ohio State, Georgia, and Penn State all come from states in the top 10 in population. Couple that with Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan being the only big CFB brands in their state (and Georgia is close, though Tech does flirt with greatness every once in a while), and it's not surprising they're in the top 10.

Below Hwy 6 (about 20 miles to the south of South Bend), no one in the state of Indiana gives a frick about Notre Dame.

Thank God for the male cheerleaders, or who knows HOW low we'd be ranked.

On the other hand, we have Texas Tech, SMU, TCU, Baylor, UTSA, North Texas, UTEP, Texas St., and about 20 other FCS programs.

Let's see, Alabama, Auburn, and uh, uh, hold on a sec, uh, uh......

Ah yes...a chemistry lesson!
I love it when LSU fans try to use the big words.

FBS - Alabama, Auburn, Jacksonville State, UAB, Troy, South Alabama

Texas has 13 FBS programs to Alabama's 6, so basically twice as many.
Texas has 6 times the population (31 million to 5 million).

Ooooooof!

“Diluted" in the context of mindset refers to the weakening, oversimplification, or loss of potency of a core belief or mental approach.

PE has entered the chat. They’ve gobbled up youth sports & minors. CFB is now in the crosshairs.

Value doesn't mean they have in cash. A business can be worth billions but only have a few million in the bank. Value isn't realized until it’s sold. Y'all plan on selling The university anytime soon?

Exactly. Was thinking the same thing. I hat does the worth have anything to do with anything? It’s not like they will sell the program to the highest bidder.

There’s a possibility that’s exactly what these valuation jumps are about. Since these are simply minor league teams using on-campus facilities, they can follow the Diamond Baseball pattern used for MiLB.

Such a freaking,stupid narrative.

What does it matter what any sports team is worth if it can't be sold?

No it doesn't dumbass.

diluted

1: weakened or thinned by or as if by having been mixed with something else (such as water)
2 of common stock : having a decreased per share value due to an increase in the total number of shares

Big oof indeed.

The way you used it does not even align with your make believe definition created to save face.

Even if we used your pretend definition, one which no dictionary recognizes, it still isn't applied correctly.

The word you are looking for is "deluded".

Who says CFB teams can’t be sold? Guarantee you there are folks right now looking at what it would take to spin off and link as a joint venture. More $ for programs, less headache for admin & possibly a better fit now that it’s minor league football.
