Would you rather have a week 1 warm-up or legit opponent?

There are solid arguments on both sides. A good opener has worked for us, but it can bite you if you have a lot of young starters.

This year, with a new defense and new starting QB, it would have kinda been nice to have a cupcake.

But then again, we had washington state a few years ago and we almost lost

Anytime you have a young QB it is nice to start off with a warm-up game.

Cupcake no doubt. Now that it's a four team playoff Idgaf about big non conference games.

I like a team like Miss St first game. A team that can beat you about 6% of the time. Perfect mix that allows your team to get ready for the season

It depends on what you mean by legit. Somewhere in the middle is best. A p5 conference bottom half school would be the ideal week one game.

Basing it on "our" past, we have had better seasons when we started with a warm up game

The years we have started with a legitimate opponent, we have fallen apart at some point. We are perennial slow starters.

Bring on Arkansas state or Louisiana Monroe.

I'm more excited to be playing a legit opponent this year compared to last years cupcake.

I always want what we don't have. This year I'm kinda underwhelmed about opening week because we have a blowout. Years when we play someone good I'm shared shitless and wish we had scheduled a cupcake

Yeah I think I'd take a warm up game like Arkansas over somebody legit like Indiana or ULM

we get such a limited number of games, I want as many good opponents as practical. I would prefer 2 good ooc opponents or 1 with an extra conference game.

To answer the op, I don't have a preference. I'm good either way.

I like Bowling Green this year. The upper-tier WAC/MAC/etc. opponents are a good matchup opening week.

Cupcakes are hard to get excited for. A week one toss-up leaves you feeling awesome if you win, but it can ruin your mood for the season if your team loses.

I'd rather have a big opener. Unfortunately LSU will have to wait until week 3 until they are truly tested
