No. It's been done before.

The Steve Spurrier Games: Legendary Florida Gators coach Steve Spurrier famously forced LSU out of their white jerseys twice in Gainesville (in 1998 and 2000) simply because he preferred his team to wear white at home. (Interestingly, instead of purple for those specific games, LSU wore gold jerseys).

How did Alabama and Tennessee both wear dark jersey's this last weekend? I thought that was pretty weird.
The crimson and orange provide enough contrast that the two teams are still distinguishable from each other. Georgia and Bama couldn't do it, nor could Auburn and Florida.
As another poster said it was a nod to tradition, as they used to wear the crimson/orange annually in the 60s/70s. I think part of the tradition was that playing in mid October the color scheme matched the autumn leaves.

Purple/yellow is uglier than the ugly white/yellow

GA Tech did it in a bowl game in 2000
Ga Tech is one of the few others that traditionally want to wear their white jerseys, so I don't think that was fricking with us.

I see that you rode the short bus to school.

Bama/TN was cool.
I would only force LSU to not wear white jerseys at a neutral field.
They should wear their purples on Halloween just for fun.

No, the home team already has most of the advantages when playing in their venue. This give some limited control to the visitors.
You just don't like it because your team and fans are arrogant enough to they they DESERVE to wear whatever they want to wherever they want to and that's just not the case.
So take your short bus comment and shove it up your neck...

And I don’t understand because it looks light years better than that ugly gold pants/helmet combo

Best look by far. Home unis are hideous

Home team chooses. Auburn probably wouldn't, but they could choose to wear white jerseys at home just to mess with LSU. Seems like a few years back somebody did that.
Auburn has only worn their whites at home to honor the 1957 championship team in 2007 I think. They wore all whites with with the blank white helmets that year for like senior day or homecoming.
Only time I remember wearing the all whites at home.

Seriously- 99% of college football teams are known for their home (colored) jersey uniform scheme. Auburn with the dark blue, Georgia and Alabama with the red or crimson, etc. This is the scheme fans "see" those teams as.
I think it contributes to LSU's TV viewership, because the casual football fan knows LSU with the gold helmets, white jersey, gold pants; and they know Auburn, Bama, etc with their home dark jerseys. So it's a win-win, you see the same color scheme matchup no matter where the game is played.
Like I said, Ga Tech is one of the only other teams that likes to wear white jerseys, so I could see a conflict there. But for teams that wear dark at home, it allows them to wear their preferred look on the road too.

It was an agreement for both teams to wear home jerseys like they did several decades ago. USC and UCLA do the same thing.

Steven Orr Spurrier. 1998.
LSU responded by wearing this monstrosity...

I love the purple jersey. We should wear them on the road more.
