Jack Crowe, and it isn't even close. I don't really count John L. Smith because he was just an interim.
Ford and Nutt won the West 3 times. Petrino won 10 & 11 games. Bert has steadily improved the program.
Hatfield had just went 55-17 and won 2 conference championships. Crowe comes in and goes 3-8, then 6-6. He then proceeds to lose to The Citadel the first game of his 3rd season and then he gets fired. He was bad. Real bad.

Even with the Kiffin fiasco, I don't think this can reasonably be debated. Bill Battle I suppose has an argument for the worst ever, but only because he was around longer. I think Tennessee would have been better off shutting down the program for a year then having seven years of Dooley.

This. 2.67 wins per year. 5 conference wins in 6 years.

Prepare yourself for a disappointing few years, because Muschamp apparently learned nothing.
The fact that he took our recruiting class from the high 40s to 28th in less than a month is encouraging.
It HAS to be better than the last 2 yrs has been. I just don't subscribe to the belief that just bc he was not exactly successful there means that same performance will translate to failure at SCar.
Maybe it's misplaced optimism, but still I believe that he will surprise a lot of ppl who doubted him.

Recruiting was never his problem. Self control and fielding a competent offense were. And he went and hired the same O.C. he had at Florida. Good luck.

Between him and Martin we're gonna have our hands full as a University in general with rage issues. Though I'll have to admit I LMAO at him during the Iron Bowl. At least things won't ever be boring with both him and Elliot on the sideline.

Your program has an 0-21 stretch, so it could definitely still get worse.

Thanks for the reminder, Bowl. I try to block that from memory. Most entertaining part of that entire stretch was The Brawl with the taters.

Jack Crowe was worse than Ford. You must be a youngin.
I'll go with Crowe if we aren't counting interims.

I experienced the joy of attending UA at that time. Very dark point in history. Before that the Hogs were always good as long as I could remember - beck to '77 with Lou.

I'd have to go with Gene Chizik

Head coach-wise it's obviously Hallman,(Going back to the 50's) though he did manage a huge upset of 'Bama. There've been a load of below-average assistants.
