Try demanding a first round win for starters. Has beens need to start small. It's ok, the Nebraska football team can guide you through this.

Cal could survive this if he had not been a Grade A douche the last decade while winning nothing. Constantly threatening to go to the NBA, talking about spoiled fans, demanding lifetime contracts, etc. Any sane basketball fan understands that March is unpredictable and you can’t ask for a whole lot more than making the tournament with a seed that makes you competitive. But his cockiness and recruiting makes the early round losses unforgivable.

I can’t believe Arkansas gave him another year

I think Calipari gets one more season. Huge buyout and it’s not like UK has sucked they just choked in the tourney. And UK dominated a weak SEC for years, it’s gotten more competitive lately with stout Alabama, Tennessee, and Auburn programs. Arkansas has been good minus this year and State has gotten back to being respectable lately.

Doesn't Cal have a 34M buyout and as for Donavan, isn't he making 6M year with the bulls?

So, it sounds like if Cal is let go, UK will give him $10-15 up front and then pay the rest out for years. Mitch is said to back channel with Jay Wright reps and see if $10 million/ year would entitle him out of retirement. If no, then Scott Drew.

Why ? Why would Kentucky pay him anything up front, unless for a discount ? This is the irritating, irrational thing about this damn $33 million buyout, and those that keep repeating the number like rabbits on crack.

None of it is owed up front. John Vincent Calipari is owed 75% of his contract, until the end date, if fired ... paid in monthly installments. With a deduct if he takes any other job, but the amount of that job's salary.

Kentucky owes him NOTHING up front. They have to pay a 25% premium to keep him. They literally have 25% of his yearly salary - at over $9 million - to offer a new coach at no increase in overall cost.

It costs Kentucky almost $2.5 million per year, over five years, to keep the jack-arse. Enough with everyone spouting $33 million like monkeys on crack. The boosters can pull together $10 million, pair it with the savings from firing him, and offer any coach a four year, $20 million deal. That's how the contract works. Assuming he sits at home and doesn't coach again.

Enough !!!

There looked like a whole lot of standing around on offense in the last few minutes.

Kentucky better be careful with what they wish for. Sure, you might get a better coach. But they could EASILY get someone much worse too

We have done that before too. BCG came and fell apart. Certainly Tennessee fans know about that too in football. But both fan bases were tired of coaches drawing huge salaries and underperforming. Alabama went through it too. But you eventually find your coach.

Kentucky fans want a coach that cares more about winning championships and less about preening about boasting of first round draft picks. Cal can recruit but he has shown he can’t coach. His in game adjustments are nil and he screams and shouts but forgets to take strategic timeouts to tell his players what to do.If you can’t win with the kind of talent he had this year then when can he win?

He tried transfers. Grady, Reeves, Mitchell, Tschiebwe, and others and still lost. We have multiple guys from the portal and he still failed. Young or old same results.

Calipari's contract gives him the option to step down as coach and immediately transition into a role as a "special AD assistant" at Kentucky. In this position, he would serve as an athletics department ambassador, making $950,000 a year through the remainder of the contract.

This is better suited for him. Let him raise NIL money and do other such shite that doesn't require coaching.

I believe from what I heard that while they would love Brad Stevens to take over (pipe dream), they will push hard for Scott Drew and Danny Hurley. I guess no surprises there.

One of the big reasons Donovan left UF is because he hated what was happening in the college sports. And that was before all the NIL/transfer portal stuff going on today.

Can't imagine he is coming back to the college game as it exists today.
