Just out of curiosity...what do you consider elite?

They count but their value means little. You can't honestly compare Auburn beating Shula in Tuscaloosa to having to play Saban's teams there.

Why do they mean little? You clowns are like the DNC-hypocrites to use facts to your own advantage and downplay them if they don't fit your narrative.

You treat your probation in 1995 and 2002 and 2003 like Marshall's plane crash. Its no one else's fault you fielded some mediocre and poor teams. Stop being such cry babies.

I mean, if anything, this year is wholly incomparable to any situation we've had in the past and there's not much point in looking at previous records one way or the other.

Auburn had success against all coaches at Alabama in BDS, except Saban. I don't know why that fact has turned you into a whiny little bitch, especially since my post said "Auburn/Gus struggle."

Tuberville was 4-1 there. The record of the Alabama teams he beat was 3-8, 10-3, 6-7, 6-7. Clearly no where near the level that Alabama has been since Saban arrived.

Chiz/Gus are a combined 1-4 there. I don't see how Tuberville's success against mediocre coaches overshadows Auburn recent struggles in Tuscaloosa.

I get that and I understand the argument, but couldn't they point out that Alabama's success has been against Gus Malzahn?
If you are going to use the coach as an argument then you have to follow it all the way through to its logical conclusion.

Personally, I agree with the poster that said that the only game that matters is this years game as coaches and players change from year to year.

I mean, a streak is a streak, but sooner or later streaks are stopped. Games are not won or lost based upon the last game or the last 20 games.

This year it's the cocktail party. Without a doubt.

But over the past decade, the iron bowl has had way more implications on the SEC and national championship pictures.

Both are great SEC rivalry games and the epitome of SEC football.

Both teams being strong do help make a game fun to watch, but so does funny shite happening. Mullen and Kirby are funny-looking, but Gus is straight up funny. Saban does not tolerate fun.

UGA and UF may be closer overall units, but lately the Barn plays Bama closer.

I'm sure they'll both be good games, but I'm taking the Iron Bowl.

He's from Louisiana, he's supposed to like that! We all do; that's perfectly normal. That's also the look of winning, which is fun.

I worked at the Baton Rouge Airport with delta Airlines way back in the day, and worked with some Cajuns with strong Cajun accents, and on Saturday and Sunday mornings one would always listen to the radio tuned into a station that played Zydeco music.

It was a whole different ballgame.

And all five of those defeats have come during the Saban Era. Auburn's last four trips to Tuscaloosa have resulted in the following:

2012: 0-49 (L)
2014: 44-55 (L)
2016: 12-30 (L)
2018: 21-52 (L)

In the five wins Saban has scored over Auburn in Bryant-Denny, none of them have been within 11 points. The margin of victory has been 36, 49, 11, 18, and 31.

Auburn's records those seasons. I don't think we need to bring up Saban's record against good Auburn teams. 2020 should be interesting.

2012: 3-9
2014: 8-5
2016: 8-5
2018: 8-5

Looks to me like Auburn can't field good teams consistently. They take full advantage of years when they get the majority of their tough games at home.

Alabama doesn't have that problem.

So, the 5 times Bama has managed to win in Auburn, the record of those Auburn teams was 5-6,7-5,8-5,8-5 & 7-6. Statistics are interesting things.....
It's rather uncanny to me how Bama has just dominated in Baton Rouge and has been dominated in Auburn.

I would have to imagine that JSO and Mayor Curry aren't going to harshly crackdown on it. The city needs that game and the cash windfall that comes with it.

This is such gump logic. When Bama is good, the games count. In years when they suck, they dont.

Bama also used to play LSU before the IB, while Auburn played thUGA. Then they had that changed to play some scrub

Since 2014, Auburn has played Samford, Libery, Louisiana Monroe, Alabama A&M, Idaho, and Samford before the Iron Bowl.
